I have read the entire series - earlier books more than once when a new book is coming out. I absolutely love the first books, but found the last two less riveting. Perhaps that is due to the fact that I am not really an American history fan. My favourites in the series are Dragonfly in Amber and Outlander. I would recommend the series to anyone who enjoys really getting into a good book for a long read!
This is a series of fantasy/adventure books that has been turned into a TV series. The TV show does follow the bookline pretty closely so if you like the show, read the books too. I've only read the first and I'm definitely going to start reading the second book soon. It's about an English woman who travels back in time to Scotland and she's got a man for each era. To enjoy the book you have to be prepared to disregard the stupid parts where there are obvious easier solutions to problems that aren't taken, kind of embarrassing choices of writing, and the inevitable Whoa-Is-Me-Female Bad-Choice-Making heroine character. The reason to read it is the Scottish hunk and his love scenes (again disregard unbelievable and awkward fact about his experience despite his age and the time period he lives in... ugh). It's a good getaway series that I'm going to continue reading.
I so enjoyed reading the Outlander book series. What an adventure to have. The love that Jamie and Claire share is so real and passionate and is put to the test so many times. It was beautifully written and you too felt transported back in time and part of their incredible journeys.
When I was initially given one of these books I was intimidated by the size of the book its huge. But once I started ready in the first novel and couldn't stop myself I had to read the entire series. These books are amazing and you just get swept away in the amazing story. Just so enjoyable.
I fell in love with this book series about ten years ago..The initial book seems a bit dry at first as the author has so many characters throughout her books, but once you get into them you can't get back out! I went from reading this series to scouring the book stores for her novellas and her series of Lord John Grey (a character from the Outlander series) and adore the combination of romance and historical events. Nothing better than unintentionally learning while you curl up with an amazing book!
