I think it boasts more success than it actually succeeds. Works sometimes, but you need to let it soak for almost a wwwk
I did a load of whites, some older and some newer but all whites and I was expecting them to come out looking better but they didn't. I had to reapply stain remover to some of the shirts and my white tea towels didn't come all white again.
I was really excited to be selected to try out OxiClean Max Force Laundry Stain Remover as part of the chickadvisor Product Review Club. With two little ones, I'm always on the hunt to keep our clothes cleaner and lasting longer.
I'm not a huge user of these laundry boosters normally but love to try out new things, especially with the stains my little ones cover themselves in. I recently tried a very similar product in a different brand, and this one seemed to be right on par with its competitor.
First I utilized as a "laundry booster" and added the product to the drum itself in regular laundry loads. In this capacity, I did not notice a huge difference in stains being removed. Moreover, the smell is incredibly strong and I really didn't like it. I had a few white items that were extra stained - several with food and grass - and used the product to pre-soak as a "stain remover." While it did get out more stains than a regular wash would have, the clothes still maintained their original stains. This was probably due to the fact that they weren't new stains, so I can't really blame the product itself. Perhaps it would have been different if they'd gone straight into the soak rather than going in after a few washes. But then again, I would never have a batch of clothes big enough to bother to soak for me to necessitate using the product in this capacity. The third situation that I used the product with was with bathroom items - towels, bathmats, etc. For this, I found it good as it really freshened them up and loosened up the "minky" smell these items can sometimes hang onto, no matter the frequency of washes. It did a good job for towels especially, but again, the smell was extremely overpowering.
At $10 a tub, this product is certainly in line with what similar products are charging. In my situation, however, I really can't see the price being worth it. I didn't see enough advantages to it to necessitate adding yet another expense to already expensive laundry, and probably would not purchase the product again.
I tried this product several time on my white towels and when used in the wash, it does seem to brighten up whites.
But I didn't give the product full remarks for a couple of reasons.
- When using on a really strong stain, as a pre soak, it wasn't able to get the stain out.
- I'm not quite sure at what stage to add the product in, I have a HE top loader & typically use liquid detergent. The instructions state that I'm supposed to add my clothes in after the water fills but that's not how my machine works (it senses the load size). Maybe if I had a simple old fashioned washer &/ used powdered detergent it would be easier to figure out.
I would recommend this product for it's effectiveness, however, it still didn't get the really tough stains out and with 4 kids, I'm finding it more and more difficult to find something that is 100% effective in that area. When I compared it to clothing that I had not previously washed with this product, I have to admit, the whites were brighter. The only thing that I really did not like about this product was the scent. It's very strong. I'm moving more and more away from heavily scented detergents, so this one really stands out. I haven't checked if it comes in a non-scented version - if it does, I will certainly buy it, otherwise, I will have to pass for now.
I had the pleasure reviewing this product and i must say i wasnt really impress. The packaging was nice...i loved the fact that it was small and easy to find a place for it in between wash.
After using all of it so i could properly review the product i can say that my clothes wasnt as white as i would of expect. My socks werent even close to being white... my loads seemed ok but i used other products that did a better job. I figure the product did clean my clothes but is it enough to make me want to buy this product..the answer is no! With a title like " Max Force white Revive" i would expect something amazing but what i got was something average that didnt hold true to the title.
Overall i am very happy i had the opportunity in trying the product but i wouldnt recommend it.
I was so excited to use this product. However, i didnt see any difference in my clothes.
Received this as a trial. I didn't find it to be amazing or anything. Used it with a load of whites (socks, sheets, tea towels), along with my normal laundry detergent (Nellie's). Even without Oxiclean, I feel like my normal detergent is able to get rid of superficial stains (e.g. blueberry stains on my daughter's clothes, mud) just fine.So yes, stains came out, but was it the oxiclean, or my usual laundry detergent? hmmm.... For more stubborn stains (like caked on stains on my tea towels from long-time use, sweat, blood), the Oxiclean didn't help much. Who knows, I only had less than 2 weeks to try this out. Perhaps longer term use of Oxiclean will slowly help brighten my whites. And perhaps would be more effective along with a stain remover.
I do like the fact that it claims to be gentle on clothes.
Verdict: not sure I'd buy this again. For ~ $10/pail, I have some other oxiclean laundry booster which is cheaper and works just the same as this one.
I received this product to try for free from Chick Advisor and am glad I did! I seem to be in the minority from a lot of the other reviews. I was very disappointed in this product. My husband wears white shirts for work and they get dingy and very dirty, so I have been looking for different things to try to keep them white and bright. This product did not do it! I have not noticed a difference in any of my clothing (not just his). Stains did not come out of shirts either. I will keep looking for another product that does work!
