This is advertised as a thickening gel. Although I don't find that it is thickening, I do find that it provides a good hold. Even more so, I think it does a good job at holding my waves/curls when applied to wet/damp hair. This does cause hard pieces of hair so be sure to really work it into the hair well. I think this would be well suited for people looking control curly hair frizz or to keep curls in place.
