This shampoo does a great job without leaving buildup behind. While the product does not tame the natural wave in my hair, it really reduces the frizziness and makes it more manageable for styling later. It's also quite conditioning and so I've stopped using a separate conditioner. However, on really dry days my hair does get quite "static-y". For a salon-exclusive product, I find Paul Mitchell to be one of the best priced brands.
