I recently received a sample of this and loved it. It really kept my skin moisturized and was very lightweight.
I received a sample size version of this in a monthly trial box, and it is the only product I have ever received that I literally love. It smells fantastic and is very light - unlike a lot of other moisturizers. Plus, it's great to use on your face and other sensitive areas because there is no residue or greasy feeling. It's the only sample I have literally squeezed dry, and then run out to buy the actual product. I do wish it cost a bit less, but for what it did for me, it's worth it.
EDIT - After using this a few times, I ended up having an allergic reaction! I passed it on to my sister, who used it until the cream and oil separated (I think she kept it for a wee bit too long). I'll still say my experience was relatively positive, I just wish I had known I'd end up looking like a chipmunk because of it.
I loved this moisturizer, but I couldn't get past the smell of dead rotten fish. I used the sample I got but I will never buy because of the smell. Aside from the smell I wanted to like it because it made my skin feel smooth and soft without being too oily. I have combination skin, and even my usual oily spots weren't oily, but my dry spots were hydrated. The product is a litte pricey but I think it's well worthit, if you can get past the smell.
So far, so good. I have very finicky skin and it is having a hard time getting used to a major climate change (I recently moved from Calgary to Vancouver) and I have been looking for a moisturizer that isn't too heavy but can still pack a punch. I've been using this cream for a couple of days now and I have noticed a change in my skin. It looks a lot healthier and I haven't broken out yet - that's huge for me and my skin! I will check back in a few weeks if anything has changed for the better or worse.
The smell, as most say, is very hard to get used to. My boyfriend calls me "Jalapeno Face" now...he says that I smell spicy and laughs at me. He will get used to it soon, I hope...because this lotion might just be a keeper.
I really like this moisturizer. It absorbs very easily, has a smooth mouse-like texture makes my skin soft. HOWEVER, the smell, I can't seem to get used to it. It seems to go away after a few hours. I think it's the smell of Lactic Acid. I use the Philosophy clear make-up on top of it (which smells like lavender) and when i combine the two, the smell of Hope in a Jar seems to become stronger. With that being said, I like the effectiveness of the moisturizer and am willing to tolerate the smell and the price!
I've been using this moisturizer for as long as i remember. I've used a lot of moisturizer and some broke me out, some gave me allergic reactions. This cream doesn't break me out. It's a bit expensive and i find myself burning through this cream quite fast. Since it's almost like a whipped souffle texture, you use a bit more than you usually would with other moisturizers. I don't mind the scent since i've used it for so long. I wish this moisturizer had SPF..but then again, i may react to it. Also, i find it not moisturizing enough in the winter months, even in the summer months when i'm really dry. But i've gotten so used to this.
I have oily skin and this is brilliant on my face. It has curbed the amount of breakouts I get and after only 2 weeks of using it I am almost confident enough to go out without makeup! My skin texture has improved and looks more fresh.
The only downside is the smell - ugh. But I have almost got used to it :)
This facial moisturizer has a somewhat thick consistency... works well for dry skin as well as during those winter months if you need more hydration for your skin than usual! however, i didnt find the smell of this product too appealing.
Lovely product. Every morning, you're pulling at your eyes, rubbing blotchy skin, hoping to god that sometime between then and arriving to work, that some miracle will happen, and your skin will pull itself together. Well here it is ladies. A little dab of this lightweight cream, give it a rub, and my skin is bright and even. It is super thin, and dries fast. There is no icky residue, no stickiness. My makeup is flawless over it.
The only aspect of this cream that I DON'T like, is that it isn't hard-core enough to handle very bad textures. I tend to get really dry skin around my nose, and an oily T-Zone. My face stays oil-free with a powder concealer on top, but it just doesn't have the moisturizing properties to take care of intensly dry skin. For normal, or oily skin, this product is definatly a good buy. If you've got excessivly dry skin, I'd keep looking.
I absolutely swear by Philosophy's Hope in a Jar moisturizer. This cream absorbs nicely into your skin moments after application, and leaves your skin feeling soft and beautiful without leaving behind any oiliness as other creams tend to do. I've been using this moisturizer religiously for the past two years, and can't say enough good things about it. I travel with it, and never go to bed without making sure all of my make-up is off and my face pampered with a smattering of Hope in a Jar. I've even been known to rave about this product whenever I'm in Sephora and there are people looking at the jars on the shelves.
As a side note, my mother has used this moisturizer on her hands and found that it leaves them soft and hydrated. She usually has very dry skin on her hands, a result of years of doing laundry, dishes and cleaning by hand. After trying many hand creams, Hope in a Jar is the only one that seems to work for her -- and it's not even meant to be a hand cream!
