I have read and heard so much about this cream, so I decided to give it a try...
Right from the beginning I was put off by the thick, awkward texture. Usually I prefer light creams that get absorbed fast and don't interfere with my make up application later. I tried it and my fears came came true. It takes forever to sink in, feels heavy and greasy and it's a terrible make-up base. Not only I had a had time applying my foundation, I found halfway through my day my whole face was running.
I have normal skin, slightly oily on the T-zone and a very sensitive cheek area, where pores clog up right away, especially if using the wrong cream.
This product definitely wasn't for me.
I don't think it's worth the buzz... and I would suggest try a sample first!
so yeah.. not worth it
I have been using this for months and loving how my skin feels, but it wasn't until the other day when a co-worker off-handedly referred to me as having "perfect skin" that I realized how great it really was.
No one has ever referred to me like that - and she was right. Definitely worth the price.
Unlike other reviewers, I haven't even noticed the smell.
So far, so good. I have very finicky skin and it is having a hard time getting used to a major climate change (I recently moved from Calgary to Vancouver) and I have been looking for a moisturizer that isn't too heavy but can still pack a punch. I've been using this cream for a couple of days now and I have noticed a change in my skin. It looks a lot healthier and I haven't broken out yet - that's huge for me and my skin! I will check back in a few weeks if anything has changed for the better or worse.
The smell, as most say, is very hard to get used to. My boyfriend calls me "Jalapeno Face" now...he says that I smell spicy and laughs at me. He will get used to it soon, I hope...because this lotion might just be a keeper.
I really like this moisturizer. It absorbs very easily, has a smooth mouse-like texture makes my skin soft. HOWEVER, the smell, I can't seem to get used to it. It seems to go away after a few hours. I think it's the smell of Lactic Acid. I use the Philosophy clear make-up on top of it (which smells like lavender) and when i combine the two, the smell of Hope in a Jar seems to become stronger. With that being said, I like the effectiveness of the moisturizer and am willing to tolerate the smell and the price!
So I would have to say I've tried a bajillion moisturizers (a little exaggeration but..) and NONE of them compared to this! I have oilier combo skin and everything I've tried seemed to make me breakout, or make existing ones worse. I started using Hope in a Jar one week ago and my skin is aMaZiNg! I wake up in the morning and any blemishes that I had, are GONE! I'm totally in LoVe with this and it is worth the price. The smell I can deal with, its not as bad as everyone claims. The texture is so light and silky, and moisturizes without ever feeling heavy or greasy. I'm sticking with this one!
This moisturizer definitely makes your skin feel soft and supple but its major downfall was the smell. It was horrendous, and from the many reviews that I read, most people were really turned off by it (even though its listed as one of the best moisturizers). I thought that the terrible metallic smell would wear off after a while but it lasted for a few hours. Thank goodness for Sephora’s return policy because I would never use this moisturizer again. Plus it didn’t really help control my oily t-zone either.
The BEST Facial Cream i have EVER tried, and beleive me i have tried tons!! Goes on like Whipped Lotion and i feel its best used at night! It works great underneath makeup too as a primer...my makeup stays on all day long, and i get so many compliments on how fresh my face looks..Its a MUST have!
I've been using this moisturizer for as long as i remember. I've used a lot of moisturizer and some broke me out, some gave me allergic reactions. This cream doesn't break me out. It's a bit expensive and i find myself burning through this cream quite fast. Since it's almost like a whipped souffle texture, you use a bit more than you usually would with other moisturizers. I don't mind the scent since i've used it for so long. I wish this moisturizer had SPF..but then again, i may react to it. Also, i find it not moisturizing enough in the winter months, even in the summer months when i'm really dry. But i've gotten so used to this.
I have oily skin and this is brilliant on my face. It has curbed the amount of breakouts I get and after only 2 weeks of using it I am almost confident enough to go out without makeup! My skin texture has improved and looks more fresh.
The only downside is the smell - ugh. But I have almost got used to it :)
This is by far the best facial moisturizer I have ever used. My mother bought some for me for Christmas and my skin looks and feels amazing! Only problem is figuring out how to afford more when I run out. Also, my husband hates the smell, but oh well!
