I'm pretty new to this product, but so far I like it a lot. It's been a couple months. This one little jar goes a long way... I didn't really realize how much i liked it, until i tried another face lotion at a mini facial. my face felt all dry and tight and i found myself wishing i could go home and put on my own lotion. then i remembered how my face always used to feel all dry and tight before i started using this. Now it feels comfy. This moisturizer is thick, but goes on light. I never notice the smell. I am smooth and not dry or flakey, as my cheeks are prone to be, and my skin does not feel greasy afterwards. i recommend it!
I love, love, love the scent of lavender. I guess I can see how this hints of lavender but it is not a pleasant smell - it smells more metallic-y (I have no idea why it smells like metal to me. What does metal smell like anyway? But, for some reason it reminds me of, say, iron). The texture is light but I find that for my sensitive skin, the feel of it, the scent of it, and the use of it just doesn't bode well for keeping my face clear. I enjoy other Philosophy products (shower gels and perfumes) but... this I'm not sold on. It's a Nope for Hope!
The smell that everyone is mentioning? Is lavender. So if you're not a fan, steer clear. I dislike lavender quite a bit, but the scent doesn't linger and I find I'm able to tolerate it for the 2 or 3 minutes it takes for the moisturizer to absorb. If you can handle that, go for it. I've been using it for 3 days, and my skin looks and feels amazing already!
I tried Hope in a Jar with great expectations! The first thing I noticed was a funky smell, which someone else pointed out... unless we both got bad jars... !?? I was always worried that my boyfriend would wonder what that smell was when he kissed me! The texture was nice and light. I didn't not find it left a residue. But I have drug store brands that are about the same and smell better! Overall I was underwhelmed. I think I was expecting a lot more because of all the hype! It's too bad... I really did want this to be as good as I've heard it is! I just returned my Jar to Sephora... LOVE Sephora's return policy!!! :)
I was really excited to finally have the cult classic Hope in a Jar in my hands because I heard so many rave reviews. I needed something really moisturizing and something that would brighten my skin up. I've given it 2 months now and it still makes my skin feel tight and peel. I keep having to apply my Cetaphil over top. It does brighten up my skin but does nothing for moisture. It also has a funny smell and I'm not sure if that's how it normally smells or if it's gone bad?? Oh well, I really wanted to love it but I guess I'll stick with my Cetaphil or try When Hope is Not Enough. Has anyone tried this one?
I am so in love with Hope in a Jar! I used to use Cliniques Dramatically Different for years and years because it was the only moisturizer that didn't break me out. It did an ok job, but since I started using Hope in a Jar, it is like I have new skin!
Yes, it's pricey...but you can always pick it up for a good deal on ebay. For what it has done for my skin I will always have Hope on my vanity table.
LOVE this stuff.. Philosophy has great product, but they can be a little pricey, but its well worth it.
i use purity along with hope in a jar.
This facial moisturizer has a somewhat thick consistency... works well for dry skin as well as during those winter months if you need more hydration for your skin than usual! however, i didnt find the smell of this product too appealing.
Lovely product. Every morning, you're pulling at your eyes, rubbing blotchy skin, hoping to god that sometime between then and arriving to work, that some miracle will happen, and your skin will pull itself together. Well here it is ladies. A little dab of this lightweight cream, give it a rub, and my skin is bright and even. It is super thin, and dries fast. There is no icky residue, no stickiness. My makeup is flawless over it.
The only aspect of this cream that I DON'T like, is that it isn't hard-core enough to handle very bad textures. I tend to get really dry skin around my nose, and an oily T-Zone. My face stays oil-free with a powder concealer on top, but it just doesn't have the moisturizing properties to take care of intensly dry skin. For normal, or oily skin, this product is definatly a good buy. If you've got excessivly dry skin, I'd keep looking.
