Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser is a good product for sensitive skin that tend to react easily.
It is easy to use in the shower, to wash your face and remove make up.
The BUT as far as my skin is concerned is A) the price, and B) I find it a bit drying (but then again, my skin is very dry )
i really do love this cleanser. I use it every single day. I used it long ago and didn't find it to be too amazing. But ever since i got my clarisonic ... which is around 2-3 years ago, i was looking for a gentle cleanser that will work well with my clarisonic. I went back to purity made simple and found that it works so well with the brush. I have really sensitive skin so i'm really careful about new products. But this hasn't given me problems yet. no breakouts, no reactions and doesn't dry the skin out. I can't really judge on it's ability as a make up remover since i use a cleansing oil before hand, but overall, i still love the cleanser...it's just a bit expensive
I have been using Proactiv for quite a while now, but recently it has been drying out my skin, and my results seem to have peaked, so I decided to try a new (more gentle) cleanser. After reading the fabulous reviews here I decided to give Philosophy a try.
I have combination/oily skin, which is also slightly acne prone. As I mentioned I had been using Proactiv so my skin was fairly clear. Purity improved the overall texture and tone of my skin -- it looked soft and smooth. My pores appeared smaller and tighter, and my skin had an overall dewy glow. I felt that my skin was perfectly hydrated as well. It is a bit of a heavy cleanser, but it did not make my skin feel too oily which I was very happy about. It also claims to be an all-in-one cleanser, meaning that it is a cleanser, make-up remover and toner as well. I think they made good on these claims, because it did a great job of making my skin feel wonderfully clean as well as totally removing my make-up.
Now for the bad. My acne began to come back after several weeks of using this cleanser. I cannot (and will not) hold this against the cleanser though because it does not claim anywhere that it fights acne, nor does it have active acne fighting ingredients in it, so I know that I used it at my own risk. I have since gone back to my trusty old Proactiv, but will still use Purity in the morning until it runs out.
I also have to note that many commented on the scent being bad, but I really like it. I can't quite describe it, but it smells clean and fresh, and the closest comparison I can make to it is the fresh smell of laundry (but even that is more of the feeling it gives me, rather than a description of the actual scent itself).
It is relatively expensive for a cleanser, but as many noted, you don't need to use a lot each time (a little goes a long way) so it will last for a while. Also, if you achieve the results many claim to, it is well worth the money. If I did not have acne prone skin, I would have been 110% satisfied. Give it a try! I got a little bottle from Sephora for $14.
Next, I think I will try their Completely Clear Skin System, because I was very happy with the quality of this product overall.
This is a great cleanser. I have very oily skin and this, even though oil is listed as one of the ingredients, has not made me breakout. My skin is actually clearer since I started using it about 8 months ago. It has a different smell, but not unpleasant. It removes makeup quite well, although it is still not the best with removing eye makeup. I'm really happy with it... it's one of the few products that helped with my skin's acne and does not irritate or overdry.
I recently picked up this item, my first foray into pricier (read: not drugstore) cleansers. According the Philosophy, Purity is a cleanser, toner and makeup remover all in one.
I was ambivalent about these claims when I first read them. However, I am happy to report that it does a decent job living up to its claim. Purity is an absolutely awesome cleanser. It takes away the day's dirt/oil really well without leaving my skin dried out, but instead soft and touchable. It works so well, I actually skip my toner altogether. As a makeup remover, it can remove my eyeliner but my mascara gets left behind. It gets left behind on my face cloth. I have found however that I haven't needed to use my L'Oreal makeup morever since.
The price is steeper than I'd like at $26 CAD for an 8oz bottle and $42 for a 16oz bottle. I'm better off going to the States and buying a couple of bottles as they're $6 and $10 less respectively.
Philosophy products never fail to please me. Purity made simple is another one of my favs. It leaves my skin feeling soft, evenly toned, and vibrant.
