This is an average mascara. I got it mainly for the purple side as it's really hard to find coloured mascaras at the drugstore. I didn't notice any brightening effect that I wouldn't have with any other mascara. Overall, the mascara was alright. My lashes are already dark and thick so it didn't make as much of a difference. Unless you are specifically looking for colored mascara, it's not worth it.

I also advantage of the Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips mail in rebate to try this product for free. I actually picked up two colors, as my eyes being hazel, I figured brown and green should work.
While I do like the colors on the lashes, being discreet enough to wear at work but still noticeable, I don't like that the black is quite thin and needs more than one coat. Also, it washes off way too easy with water for me, like a rainy day or a day shower will leave you looking like a panda.
Also, the packaging is not the best, as quite often, the inner small tubing that leaves just enough product on the brush does come loose, and the brush ends up being covered by half an inch of mascara.
Overall, I think it is way too expensive for the quality.

My favorite thing about this mascara is that it washes off easily with water. That would probably be a bad thing for someone else, though, and I would definitely not recommend this if you're out on a rainy day, but, after a long outing I don't want to have to be scrubbing my face to get mascara off my lashes.

As far as mascaras go, this one does the job. It doesn't clump my lashes and it gives enough of a lengthening and thickening for a noticeable effect, but nothing dramatic (although I have yet to try an absolutely amazing one).

And while it looks a bit awkward, I don't have any trouble gripping the handle. I would definitely recommend this to someone.

** I have this product in the brown eyes color- which comes with a black end and a purple end. I would say this mascara is an average mascara, the formula is very basic- nothing to be too excited about. Its a typical mascara with a typical brush that gives you some volume and length, but does not generate any "oOos or aaAhs" for me. The thing that is unique about this mascara is that it has a colored part. I like to layer the purple over the black on my lashes, so it looks more subtle. As you can see in my picture, its pretty subtle and more noticeable when you look closely or in the light, which can be nice because I don't really want bright purple lashes and its like kind of a nice little surprise since you only notice the purple in the light/ close up. I doubt that this mascara would be any one's HG everyday mascara, but its something fun to have when you want to spice up your mascara color :) Hope this helps!

I liked how there was duo colour to bring out your eyes. It did not clump when placed on. The price is a bit high for drugstores, but the product does work.

I took advantage of the Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips mail in rebate to try this product. Normally I would spend less on mascara, but I was excited to try something new and free (as the rebate did actually arrive).

I purchased the mascara duo for blue eyes, and although a reluctant user of blue-colored eye products, I thought I'd try it. I was pleased! The packaging recommends a coat of each color, and I was worried that it would be thick and heavy on my lashes. When I was applying the product, I found it to be light, and I didn't have any issues with clumping or excessive product application. My lashes and eyes just "popped" with the blue-enhanced black mascara. And the mascara held up well in mist and heat, which is better than I was expecting.

Would I purchase this product again? Indeed. Would I suggest some changes to the product packaging? That's also a yes. The double-ended wand is not particularly sturdy, and I had to fiddle a bit to keep mascara from gathering at the tube openings.

I expected a lot from this product, considering the eye shadows have always been my go to. However, this mascara left a lot ot be desired.
The applicator for both colours, black and purple. are way too big and hardly allow for proper mascara application. I find myselft applying more than two coats to get the desired look. For an expecting mother who has a busy 16 month old on the go, this doesn't make life too easy in the mornig.
While the actual packaging is appealing, the product left me wanting...a different more effective mascara.
Personally i only use this one when I have the time to apply it a bunch of times otherwise it sits in my make up drawer until absolutely necessary.

Since I have the most shortest/lack of eyelashes I'm always on the lookout for any mascara that enhances the eye. The Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo caught my eye while shopping at Wal-mart as there was a free mail-in rebate. Purchased the one for "Brown Eyes" just because what would I lose? The purchase price was a little over $15. The product claims: Dual-ended volumizing and lengthening mascara that enhances eyes with illuminating color for ultra-dramatic & glamorous lashes; Perfectly coordinated shades can be used alone or used together for multiple looks & customized lashes; Luminous Lashes, Dramatic Volume, Glamorous Length, 24 Hour Wear; Clump-free, flake-free, smudge-free and fiber-free. So did the product deliver????? NO WAY!!! I was really disappointed. I did like the actual container - looks unique and kinda cool. However I didn't feel that beyond the look of the container, did it deliver on all the claims. First of all the brush was way too big which made it really hard to use. There are two sides, the side with the colour (green eyes: green, brown eyes: purple, hazel eyes: pink, blue eyes:blue) and the other side had the regular black side. Since I purchased the one for "Brown Eyes" it was black/purple. When I put the purple shade over the black, it didn't really create that dramatic look that I had anticipated. The product came out clumpy and just did not look attractive at all on my eyelash. I know that the product claimed 24 Hour Wear - but seriously I couldn't test that one out just because I couldn't wait to remove the product off my eyelash....LOL.

Unlike the other reviews so far, I loved this product for the exact reason others did not! It is exactly what a girl with long lashes wants. The product is indeed thicker, and will clump if the applicator wand is not wiped on the tube for removing excess product. Within two or three strokes you have all the product you need on those babies! When I get a new mascara, I put it on my freshly cleansed eyes, and then hit the gym. My workouts are intense sweating sessions where I am in a pool of sweat at the end. When I wore this mascara, I had no lash marks on my lower eyes, and no lash marks under my brow bone! Incredible! This had to be too good to be true! So I used it at the gym all week again with great results. Talk about staying power!

The blue mascara: I really liked this as well, it gives you that little pop to your eye when layered over your black. Note: blue is great for any eye color, not only blue eyes....fyi.

If I had to pick anything negative at all, it would be the word "shimmer" in the name. The mascara has no shimmer in the product at all, so that could be misleading.

Oh yes, if you search you can find ones with the full rebate stickers on the package and get every penny back if purchased by November 30th 2010, and postmarked by December 15th 2010.

Good deal if you ask me!

I bought the shimmer strips mascara for green eyes. I paid approximately 16 dollars canadian for it. That's more than I like to pay for mascara that I don't know if I will like or not. However I did want to check out their eye colour enhancement claims and it did come with a full price mail-in rebate form, so nothing to lose. I don't care for the big applicator brushes, I find them a little bit akward to use. Also the mascara goes on quite thickly and at first I had a lot of clumping problems. I found that I could resolve that issue by taking more time and care with my mascara applying technique. I did some experimenting to get the right/green black combo on my lashes. I like just the tiniest subtle hint of green peeking through. I've read various reviews on line and a lot of people didn't like this mascara and didn't notice any "eye enhancement". For me personally, I really felt that my eyes did indeed look brighter and more noticably green. So, it did what it promised to, for me. Maybe it depends on a persons eye colour or their application technique....? This won't be replacing my favorite mascara anytime soon, but I would buy it again IF it was on sale for a reasonable price. I wish we had a category between you betcha! and fugheddaboutit, because a lot of products fall somewhere in the middle.
