I have suffered from cold sores my entire life, since I was a young infant. I have used many products. This product is on the high end of the price range and in my opinion does help to speed healing time, but only in combination with an ointment or prescription cream. Also, as a nursing student I am aware that viruses, such as the one that causes cold sores need to be dealt with by our bodys' immune system, and they just have to work themselves out.
HOWEVER this product is great when you want to hide a cold sore, get rid of the itch/burn that radiates across your lip from the sore, or if you want to shield it from things. Believe me I have hit mine on a fork and other things before and it kills! The best part is that recently I have found coupons for the product that gives you $5 off! This is something I will buy over and over again. And even though I only get cold sores once or twice a year, you need to get SOME SORT of treatment on them as soon as you feel the tingle in your lip, that's the only way to really get ahead of them!
Still a really good product, which I will continue to purchase!
I really liked the fact that the patch covered the cold sore and was very hard to notice. Yet, with eating or drinking the patch begins to roll up. Also, the price is quite expensive ($19 at Shoppers) and it is a make or break thing for me. I liked them but not sure if they're worth the price!
I found a couple things wrong with this product - it doesn't stick for long if you have any makeup on, and while taking it off it took the top of the cold sore too (removed the scab) which hurt. Will not purchase again.
I used this when i was sick with cold sore. It worked for me and i like the fact that seals the could sore and less visualize.
I'm prone to cold sores and its no fun having one, They are sore and an eye sore. I bought this thinking that it was going to treat my cold sore and make it less noticeable. Well I was wrong if was very uncomfortable to wear I thought it actually drew more attention and it would not stay on. So I don't think I will by buying this again.
Does help with the cold sore symptoms, but I found it a tad hard to apply and get it to stay on. Really didn't like the looks when it was in place. Doesn't always stay in place when cold sore is in an the corner of your lip
The Polysporin Cold Sore Healing Patch works like a sticker to cover up the cold sore. It is easy to apply and often lasts longer than the 8 hours noted on the product. I have tried it previously on a cold sore in the middle of my bottom lip and the corner of my lips. The patch lasted much longer and was more comfortable when it was in the middle of the lip versus the corner. I probably would not plan on using a patch instead of a cream for a cold sore towards the corner of my lips in future occasions, although these are less frequent in my case. I also like that the Polysporin Cold Sore Healing Patches have a long expiry date and are individually sealed so they are good to keep on hand for future cold sores. The price is similar to Abreva. Overall, I would recommend this product.
I tried this product awhile ago and didn't like it at all. I found it didn't do as promised. It didn't cut healing time at all and even with makeup over top it was still noticeable.
I have suffered terribly since I was young with cold sores, I thought I would give these a try as nothing else seems to work :( Alas, these didn't help as much as I hoped! I will try them again, as some of my cold sores are worse than others, and the one I had while testing these was a biggie!
This hardly hides a cold sore. If your goal is to leave a large circle semi-stuck to your face that collects pus and begins to unfold after drinking or eating...this patch is for you.
While it effectively attaches itself to the sore's waste- it doesn't stay in place well and is very conspicuous.
