Tasty Plant-Based Protein

I was fortunate enough to receive 2 of each flavour of PowerBar Plant Protein Bars for free from PowerBar and Chick Advisor. I will not receive financial compensation for my review.

Also of note, the packaging for the bars I received had a slightly different flavour description, "Almond, Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate Flavoured".

Each bar has: 230 cal., 13g Fat, 22g Carbohydrates, 10g Protein, 8g Fibre, 190mg Sodium, 6% Daily Value of Calcium and 15% Daily Value of Iron.

This bar has a great nutty caramel flavour that is sweet and a little bit salty with a hint of earthiness. Unlike many protein bars, this one does not have that chalky, protein powder taste. The consistency is medium soft, like a cross between a seed/nut bar and a granola bar. I really like the crunchy texture, it's very satisfying. The pea and rice protein crisps are fairly bland though occasionally they have a slight bitter taste. I don't taste chocolate in this bar at all. If you're looking to get your chocolate fix along with your protein, these are not the bars you're looking for.

These bars would be great for someone who needs a convenient, portable, plant-based and/or soy-free protein source. Since the second ingredient is inulin, they might also be useful for someone who needs to avoid spikes in their blood glucose level.

Based on flavour alone, I would pick one of the Plant Protein bar flavours over any other protein bar because they are delicious and don't taste like protein powder. For me personally though, these bars are not a good value at $1-$2 CAD for 10g of protein. I am neither vegan nor vegetarian so for the same price I could buy one of the other varieties of PowerBar protein bars that have 20 g of protein.

Overall, I'd recommend this bar to someone who needs convenient, plant-based protein or to someone who can't stand the taste of traditional protein bars, for everyone else I think there are better options out there.

Its ok

This flavor was only ok for me cuz im not a big fan of sea salt. If you are a big fan of sea salt then this one is definitely for you. Otherwise i would choose the other flavours instead.

I love anything with sea salt!

I received this bar to try from Chick Advisor and I was super surprised with the taste! Sweet and salty, and just the right amount of crunch. I would compare this to a granola bar though and not a protein bar.

Delicious alternative to non-plant based energy bars.

I love that these bars are powered by plant protein! They taste delicious and don’t have an aftertaste or weird texture that some other protein bars have. I would recommend!

I really liked my bar , I would buy it again. I went and bought a few bars of each today because they are so good and yummy. My whole family liked them

Tasty new plant based protein bars

I received the power bar plant protein almond, sea salt and dark chocolate bar from XY Stuff to try and review. I found these bars had a nice faint saltiness to offset the sweetness and that made it a decent snack. The amount of protein is not as high when compared to other protein bars. I would eat this more as a snack or as a snack after my workouts. These bars are very tasty.

Bland but a healthy option.

Of all three Plant based protein bars by PowerBar, this was one of my least favorite flavour combos. However, the macros are good for this bar and the energy it provided for a spin class was perfect. Good value. Just not a fan of the flavour. Slightly cardbord-ish.

plant protein yay, but had an odd taste

i like the added plant protein in the bar, it's always good to be able to get some extra protein in my diet, so i was hopeful for these! however, i thought that they had a kinda weird sorta taste to them? i would say a weird aftertaste, but it was more of a weird sort of initial taste, kinda bitter, that didnt last too long and then they were pretty good. Also there was something in them that was kinda hard, so the texture of them was not much to my liking. Overall i would say they were pretty decent, i probably would not buy them again though, the biggest deterrent being the hard bits in them and the texture. the almond ones were one of my favourites of the three, it was a toss up between almond and peanut.

Great tasting snack.

Thanks Chick Advisor for the chance to try POWERBAR PLANT PROTEIN ALMOND, SEA SALT AND DARK CHOCOLATE for free. Let me just say, the bar was extremely satisfying and I'd absolutely consider buying it. You simply can't go wrong with dark chocolate. Just as yet, I haven't found anyone who stocks them yet though so my value rating is not exactly valid.

A decent health bar

The power bar plant protein almond, sea salt and dark chocolate bar I received free from chick advisor was a decent health bar. It did not have an odd protein taste like some bars. The chocolate evened out the healthy side nicely. This bar had a nice faint saltiness that made it a satisfying snack. The only thing I did not like about this bar was a strange after taste. That said it is something I would buy if I needed a protein source.
