Tasty Caramel Protein

I was fortunate enough to receive 2 of each flavour of PowerBar Plant Protein Bars for free from PowerBar and Chick Advisor. I will not receive financial compensation for my review.

Also of note, the packaging for the bars I received had a slightly different flavour description, "Cashew, Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate Flavoured".

Each bar has: 230 cal., 12g Fat, 24g Carbohydrates, 10g Protein, 7g Fibre, 190mg Sodium, 4% Daily Value of Calcium and 15% Daily Value of Iron.

*Caramel is not listed in the ingredients.

This bar has a strong caramel flavour with a hint of chocolate. Unlike many protein bars, this one does not have that chalky, protein powder taste. It feels like I'm eating something healthy and hunger-satisfying. The consistency is medium soft, like a cross between a seed/nut bar and a granola bar. I really like the crunchy texture. The pea and rice protein crisps are fairly bland though occasionally they have a slight bitter taste.

These bars would be great for someone who needs a convenient, portable, plant-based and/or soy-free protein source. Since the second ingredient is inulin, they might also be useful for someone who needs to avoid spikes in their blood glucose level.

Based on flavour alone, I would pick one of the Plant Protein bar flavours over any other protein bar because they are delicious and don't taste like protein powder. For me personally though, these bars are not a good value at $2-$3 CAD for 10g of protein (At the time of this review, PowerBar Plant Protein bars are no longer listed on the Canadian Costco website. Without costco.ca, the price range from other online retailers is $2-$3 CAD). I am neither vegan nor vegetarian so for the price of one Plant Protein bar I could buy; a boneless, skinless chicken breast, multiple servings of tofu, a can of tuna or one of the other varieties of PowerBar protein bars that have 20 g of protein.

Overall, I'd recommend this bar to someone who needs convenient, plant-based protein or to someone who can't stand the taste of traditional protein bars, for everyone else I think there are better options out there.

My new go to for hanger!

I was given POWERBAR PLANT PROTEIN CASHEW, SALTED CARAMEL AND DARK CHOCOLATE free in exchange for an honest review. Super delicious! I can't wait to pick up more of these. The cashew and salted caramel combination worked perfectly together. I enjoyed the texture as well. I've been struggling with sudden hanger issues and this bar really helps steady me.

Was expecting better taste

I have received this energy proteing bar for free to try out. Supper exciting as I try to eat healthy so I am open to trying new healthy snacks. Each snack bar contains 10g plant-based (pea and rice) protein, and is excellent source of fiber and good source of iron. The protein bars I received to try were in 3 flavors - Cashew, Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate Almond & Sea Salt. I love cashews, caramel and chocolate so their combination that should be healthy and full of energy was exciting. To my disappointment, the bar's taste was not the best. The bar was a bit harder to chew and taste was kind of plain. I still encourage people to buy it, as it was maybe just for me.

Powerbar Cashew

Out of the three flavors I got to sample this was my least favorite. Only because I'm not a big fan of cashews. But other than that I liked that it curbed my appetite as I'm always on the go. Quick and convenient snack.

I also like this one!

I like both caramel and dark chocolate. Cashew okay but not my favorite. Maybe a little sweeter than almond one. Overall, I like it. Can eat as a snack or help in betwy meals!

Too Sweet

I received this product for free for my honest review along with two other flavors of the new Powerbars. I was really hoping to like his one but it was a little too sweet for my liking and didn’t taste much like salted caramel in my opinion as I didn’t get a salt flavor at all and the caramel wasn’t that authentic. One thing I did like is the protein content and it was a perfect mid morning snack to tie me over until my late lunch that day. The texture is a bit too crunchy for me and I would prefer it to be a bit chewier. I wouldn’t buy this particular flavor but the almond and dark chocolate one is a definite winner!

ok but not my favourite

i got a chance to try this for free and was hopeful for them, it's always beneficial to get some extra ~plant~ protein in my diet! however, i didn't really like it too much. it wasn't bad, but i found it had an odd sorta taste to it, almost bitter? it was especially evident in the cashew one. it wasn't a lingering taste, and actually the after taste was quite good! There was also something in them that was kinda hard, which made the texture a little unappealing to me. They were not bad, but just something i probably wouldnt get again.

Not for me but maybe for you

I was so excited about getting this free sample to try however I did not enjoy it. The taste it overly sweet and then it has hard balls that turn into a chalky paste. It's not for me but still worth you giving it a try. #gotitforfree

best tasting variety of the plant protein bars

Of the flavors available, the cashew, salted caramel and dark chocolate had the right combination of sweet and salty, and was very nice to eat. In general, these plant protein power bars are quite filling and also seem heavier than similar products. Also did not feel thirsty after eating this bar.

This product is great for a snack.

I loved the combination of cashews, caramel, and dark chocolate. This bar was full of flavor and curbed that sugar craving that you get when you want a snack. I particularly like dark chocolate, so that is an added bonus.
