Not my idea of a lemon bar...
Unlike the chocolate peanut butter protein bar, I was not thoroughly impressed by the flavor of this one! I love lemon and tend to buy a variety of different things in this flavor. However, this product was overly sweet and although it does have a lemon flavor, it is not very good in my opinion. It has a weird gritty texture to the protein bar. I could only eat half of it before I had to stop - the sweetness is just too much in this one. If you are debating between which flavor, go for the other one! Would not recommend or buy in the future. The packaging and eye-appeal is just as beautiful as the other flavor!
I was more excited to try this flavour out over the creamy chocolate peanut butter, however after one bite, lemon poppy seed isn't for me, Both of these have the same consistency, which many times they won't. There's a thin white chocolate layer and inside is light and almost whipped, it's not dense. I wasn't a fan of the flavor, I figured that the lemon would be strong, like it normally is, it's not really in this bar. There's actually very little flavour, it's almost a little bland, I'm not a fan of the flavour, but I do love the bar and the texture/consistency and how full I feel after eating it.
PowerBar ProteinPlus Reduced Sugar Lemon Poppy Seed is sooo yummy. Even if I wasn't watching what I eat I would still eat this as a treat – it tastes like lemony cake. The fact that it's only 2g of sugar is so great, I can enjoy them when I'm on the go or after my workout and I have no guilt. #gotitfree
PowerBar ProteinPlus Reduced Sugar bars are pretty yummy! At only 2g of sugar, you don't feel guilty about eating these pre or post-workout. The Lemon poppy seed flavour tastes like the cake and I love how there are actual poppy seeds in it!!
PowerBar ProteinPlus Reduced Sugar in Lemon Poppy Seed is the perfect protein bar – it tastes like a coffee shop treat but without the sugar and gives me the boost I need in my day.
As mentioned, the taste of this power bar was really surprising to me. It does not taste like your average protein bar, to me, it tastes like a lemon loaf you’d buy at Starbucks except. So they definitely nailed the lemon flavor. It is also quite sweet for only having 3 grams of sugar. I know the maltitol (aka sugar alcohol) helps add sweetness but it seems like the perfect amount for a lemon flavored product. It is also not as dry as some of the other protein bars I have had, so that’s a definite bonus as well.
Aside from flavor, I also like that power bar relies on sugar alcohols instead of pure sugar as this means no energy crash post consuming this product. This is definitely a product I will buy again for my workout … or just a snack that I won’t have to feel guilty about eating.
I am an avid protein bar consumer; I often eat them as a meal replacement if I am on the go and use them as a dietary supplement. For that reason, I am cautious about the ingredients that are in bars I consume and try to go towards ones that are lower sugar (and less like a chocolate bar with some protein added as many can be nutrition wise)
I was really happy to be able to try these PowerBar ProteinPlus bars as nutritionally they pack a great punch and contain 2g sugar for the Lemon Poppyseed bars - completely fitting with my needs/wants of a bar.
I don't generally gravitate towards lemon flavored goods a whole; but these bars are DELICIOUS!! Out of the two flavors I tried, I LOVED the lemon poppyseed bar the most. It legit tastes exactly like a lemonpoppy seed muffin. The texture is soft, the taste is a spot on to a muffin (without any weird aftertastes) and it is super filling. I am 100% sold.
Price wise - a box of 4 is about $7. They are a fraction of the price of the expensive health food bars I was purchasing (and will no longer be buying)
I honestly have NOTHING bad to say about these bars!
I surprisingly enjoyed the lemon poppy seed flavour - the taste is quite true to the falvour and does not taste artificial. It's a falvour I wouldn't normally choose but I liked it! The texture is a bit different but I find that's the case with all protein bars.
PowerBar ProteinPlus Reduced Sugar Lemon Poppy Seed took the edge off my hunger when I needed it! I was out and getting hungry in between meals. I'm glad I had one of the lemon poppy bars on me. Oh my goodness, it was delicious! Very soft and chewy, there are no crunchy bits. I'm surprised that it's reduced sugar because it tasted just like a candy bar. I love lemon-y flavours so this is my new favourite protein bar. It also left me feeling full for a long time. Great for weightloss as it prevents you from grazing and snacking in between meals. The only caveat is that I noticed that I got really baaaad gas a few hours after consuming the powerbar. I looked it up and I think it's the maltitol. It's a sugar alcohol that is used as a low-calorie sweetener. The side effects include bloating, flatulence and some gastrointestinal symptoms. If you look at the nutrition facts, it's not much different from my usual protein bar so there's no reason for me not to switch to this new one as an occasional snack. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this product to my friends!
PowerBar ProteinPlus Reduced Sugar in Lemon Poppy Seed is too sweet for me. #gotitfree from Chick Advisor to test out. At first, I was very excited because it's kind'a new for me to have a taste of a lemon flavored power bar. After taking a first bite, it was okay but my taste buds got so overwhelmed by the very strong flaovour. I like the smell of it but I preferred to have the chocolate peanut butter flavor of powerbar.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Protein Plus Lemon Poppy Seed PowerBar. The lemon poppy seed flavor is quite unique in protein bars, and was better than I expected. The bar was soft and chewy, and with only 2g of sugar it doesn't have the artificial sugar taste of many protein products. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this item and purchase in future. Yumm!
