This is the best acne product I have ever used... in a short time my few, but annoying, pimples were gone, my face looked healthy and everything was fine...but the routine is so annoying! Eventually, I found that the price eventually was not worth the long routine, the hassle of ordering it or trying to delay how often the sent the product (even though I did not need as much as they were sending) etc....
I have mixed feelings. I used Proactiv for about 5 years but after that time, I found it stopped working. My real complaint is that the ads for Proactiv tell people they will notice a difference right away. It took me about 3 months of using the product .. and my acne getting worse before it got better ... to notice a difference. Anyone with cystic or bad acne cannot expect their problem to get better immediately once using an acne product. Often the medication in the product needs to start working and bring out the bad before you start seeing the good. I did have success for several years but ended up needing a prescription cream. I was pleased with the regular shipping Proactiv provided and the price was right
I do not have bad acne but i do suffer from the odd zit after using this stuff religiously for 3 months i did not find it made a difference. I definitley to not recomend it
Proactiv is one of the products that kept my sane during my pregnacy when my skin was constantly breaking out. It is worth the money because it works and didnt dry my skin out like most products. However I did find that the green tea moisturizer burned my skin so I didnt use it
When I bought the kit the guy said it would take time to work so I used it for a little over a month and found that instead of having breakouts of many small-to-medium sized pimples and blemishes it caused the large painful deep under-the-skin kind of pimples and I still had quite a bit of my regular acne too.
I was so embarassed when I got my first zit at TWENTY years old. Why was my face betrraying me AFTER my teenage years? I tried every Clean and Clear, Neutrogena and SkinID product out there. They didn't work-period. I ended up with dried out skin and MORE zits for my trouble. I am willing to guess that I spent well over $500 in about two years trying and trying to find a product that worked.
I finally decided to try Proactiv. The FIRST DAY after I tried the product, I noticed my skin clearing up. I couldn't believe it. I nearly cried with how relieved I was to finally try something that worked! The product is more expensive than average cleansers but it works really well and I only have to have new product sent about every 10 weeks. I love the club you can join to have your product automatically replenished. I can't use the toner or repairing cream but I don't seem to need it so I keep it for back up in case I have a major flare up. Overall-love it.
Proactiv is a bipolar acne product.
When I was in middle school I had horrible acne. This wasn't even acne. It looked like little bombs all along my forehead and temples. The "acne" shown in any commercials could have been beauty, with my acne being the beast.
When first using this product, the results are great! After getting to your second or third round of the kit, the results go back to how they originally are. To be honest, I would never recommend Proactiv. It gave me false hope that my acne could ever get better.
Luckily now, in my last year of high school, my acne is controlled but not perfect. I have been prescribed real acne medicine that is keeping it tamed.
This product is really good. It really does work. Its very creamy and smooth. The only issue I have is that it works so good to removes excess oil and dirt, it dried out my skin. So, I only use it once a week, but I use the refining mask when I have breakouts. Love the Proactive system, It worth every penny.
This does help my skin which becomes especially oily and acne-prone in summer, though I get acne year-round. Its a constant battle, and I'm exhausted. This is the first thing that makes me feel like I have any control over it. To be honest, my fave product is the lotion... I could take or leave the other two. However, used as directed 2x a day, it makes a difference for me. Most of the year, I use it 1x a day and use other fave products which have other functions. The system never dries out my 'normal' skin... even in winter. I just wish it could block/ control all my pimples but I still get them.
I looked and didn't see a separate review for this: Proactiv Advanced Blemish Treatment
You don't fully appreciate something until its gone! This is a small wonder-tube for me. I break out in summer and when I can't control a developing pimple, this has been my go-to stuff. Its a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment of 5.0% (not sure if this is buffered or if its medical grade - but its not as harsh on my skin like other benzoyl peroxide products) but it works much better than anything else I've tried. And I've tried lots over 20 years! I have had the small tube for 1-2 years and I just lost it. URG. However when I went to buy a new one, I discovered that its $29. Ouch. (I got it as a trial with a kit once... and now I'm addicted, so I must pay the price)
PS The peroxide (as in Benzoyl Peroxide) in this product will discolour (bleach) towels and pillowcases. Just be aware before you ruin your fave set of coloured towels or sheets.
I tried Proactiv for the first time by purchasing a kit at the mall in the trial size format. I was pretty pleased with the results but I was also concentrating very hard on losing the acne. I used the products religiously the first month just as described and I have to say that they worked pretty good. I lost a lot of the acne, but not all of it. I would describe myself as mild adult acne sufferer. So, I figured it would keep on working and clear me up for good over time. I then did an auto-enrollment procedure through Proactiv and started with the trail size. I kept using it and didn't really see any new results after so long, just the same ones I'd already found. I kept using it until I received my first full size set in the mail through auto enrollment. The cost was outrageous and I couldn't fathom spending that much on something that I felt worked as good as good ole' clearasil facial soap. So, I don't highly recommend it but I can say that it works to a certain degree on acne.
