I've had acne ever since my teenage years and I tried more of the common products (like clean and clear and neutrogena) before I decided to invest the money for proactive. For the first two weeks, my skin was the clearest it had ever been! I was so excited that I had finally found something that would work on my skin. Unfortunately that bubble was quickly broken when I started getting these big painful pimples instead of the tiny ones I usually got. I immediately stopped and haven't looked back since.

So to go through the products one by one since they weren't all as bad:

1. Renewing cleanser: I love exfoliating my skin which is why I really liked this cleanser. My skin felt pretty clean after. It didn't really do anything for me results wise. I switched back to using clean and clear because i felt it was a better exfoliant. The cleanser was white in color with brown beads (the exfoliate). Since it has benzyl peroxide in it, it did smell pretty bad.

2. Revitalizing toner: The toner I felt wasn't strong enough. I usually use clean and clear deep cleaning astringent and in comparison to it I felt it didn't clean deeply enough. It was I feel more directed towards sensitive skin as it was very cooling. It was a light blue color and had the consistency of water like the rest of the toners.

3. Reparing lotion: It was a white cream that wasn't too moisturizing. I have combination skin so I felt it left some areas of my face quite dry. It also smelled really bad!

4. Refining mask (I got this free as a gift since it was the first time I was buying proactive): This was my absolute favorite item that I received and I would buy it again alone. The mask really worked wonders! It, like the other products had a funky smell but because the results were so great I didn't mind. I usually didn't wear it as a full mask because I wanted to make it lats. So I just used it as spot treatment. I usually put it on at night and then wash it off once it was dry. The very next morning I noticed that it was well on it's way to disappearing. It is a thick white creamy material that I coated over my problem areas. They tell you to wait until it dries (which usually takes about 5-10 minutes). I usually don't wait longer than 10 minutes to wash it off.

I really really really wanted Proactiv to work. I know so many people who use it and have amazing results but for me not so much. I'm glad I don't have to use it anymore the cleanser felt like I was rubbing sand into my skin and hurt like crazy. Whenever I used the toner it smelt like something was burning. In the end Proactiv made me skin break out more than it did before I used the product I would definitely stay away from it.

I have used this product for several years now and it truly makes a difference. The three step cleansing process is very effective if used daily. The product leaves your skin feeling thoroughly cleansed and hydrated. You can really feel the work of the toner once you have used the scrub to open the pores. I highly recommend this product even if you are not experiencing severe acne. I had small red bumps on my forehead that often came about during summer months or heat, and I found that proactive was the only product worth investing in that did the job. I did find that after a couple years of using it my skin got used to the treatment so I would have to use it more occassionally but it still worked.

I'll admit it, I've tried a lot of acne treatments. In the 6 years I've needed skin help, I've never had the fast results like I had with ProActiv solution. Within just a few days, I felt the smoothest skin I've ever felt (I honestly could not stop running the back of my fingers against my cheeks!) and saw clear skin. Just a few days! It's amazing.

Because my skin has cleared up considerably, makeup is easier to put on-- and I don't have to pile it on! I can go for the natural look, almost like I naturally don't need makeup.

I bought Proactiv a few years ago and I must admit it has worked for me!

A bit of warning: The first time I used it - I ended up breaking out like the worst my skin ever has. I think it was due to all the chemicals in Proactiv and my skin was getting used to the new acne-fighting product. Over a few days, my skin finally got used to the product and now it's completely flawless!

You do need to do the 3 step - cleanse, tone and moisturize - or else it won't work as effectively. Also, you have to make sure it's part of your routine (day & night), otherwise you may see tiny blemishes reoccur in a few days.

I really love the Proactiv Refining Mask - you can use it for 10 minutes or wear it overnight to dry up any blemish so that the next day you're skin is acne-free!

Overall, it is a pricey item and you do have to be persistent if you choose to use/purchase the Proactiv system! I, personally, find it worthwhile and I have yet to see a product that comes close to Proactiv for my own skin. It's given me flawless, acne-free skin and a healthy glow to my face.

I also used Proactiv for 3 years and felt that in the first year or two it worked well but found that it lost its touch after awhile. I also found that if I touched anything after haveing the repairing lotion on my hands that it would bleach any fabric. So if this product does work for you then make sure you wash your hands after applying the lotion. The clay mask is amazing though. It dryes up any blemish overnight. I now use a Hypoallergenic product from Marcelle called AC SOLUTIONS. Much better.

I have been using this product for about 3 years now and it works i recomend it it clerad all my acne in half a week !

So not worth the money!

Aside from the price, the product itself was mediocre and did not clear up my skin. It pretty much just sucked all the moisture out of my skin -- my face was red, irritated, and hurt quite a bit! I found over-the-counter drugstore cleansers to be much more effective (and at a fraction of the cost).

Though I'm not one who's prone to having terrible acne, Proactiv has reduced what I used to get (some blackheads and a few whiteheads every so often). Now if I have a pimple that's not under the skin, I freak out whereas before it was the norm. The only downside to Proactiv is that you have to use it RELIGIOUSLY! I find if I skip a morning or a night, I can immediately see it in my skin. As long as I use it every morning and every evening, my skin will never look better than it does now :)
