Too long too fill, doesn't pour well
I have to say I was really disappointed in this pitcher as I expected it to be just like my Brita (or maybe even better). In terms of water, it tastes like nothing, which is great (and water should really taste clean and like nothing identifiable), but that's the only good thing I can say.
Like other people, I noticed how weirdly slow this drained. So slow that I was convinced it was broken. I took the filter out and tried all the unblocking stuff THREE TIMES before I resigned myself to the idea that it was just this slow. Filling the top section once takes about 20 mins+ to drain and while it does hold more than my Brita, that is insane. Especially as you need 2 fills to get it completely full.
If this was the only problem it might be okay (after all, it does filter the water really well), but the jug itself is not great at pouring. If you don't pour it really heavily it drips down and spills everywhere. There's no way to pour it gently into a smaller cup, you have to tilt it really far to get a steady non-spillable stream.
I also found it really difficult to get it in the fridge without the top coming off and spilling everywhere, but this depends on the size of fridge and if you have shelves above your milk section or not.
I do like the 'electronic' filter reader, but wouldn't put it past it to tell you to change it too soon, but it is handy if it's honest.
SUMMARY
********************************************
Pros
+ Water gets filtered well and tastes like nothing.
+ Big size.
Cons
- Drains so slowly it's unbelievable. I am still shocked after a couple of weeks use.
- Spills everywhere when pouring unless you tip it really far.
I prefer super cold water with fluoride in it (sensitive teeth that require it), so the water dispenser unit isn't an option. This is a great in-fridge alternative that I compared with my current same-size Brita water pitcher.
This pitcher holds a few more cups of water, but takes forever for the water to go through the filter, despite me shaking and rinsing out the filter several times as per the instructions. Hopefully over time it will improve its speed!
The filter part is big and clumpy, and I'm unable to locate replacement filters online, so am unable to price compare the filter prices with Brita pricing.
Just like the Brita, the indicator lights will eventually die, and you'll just have to remember when to replace the filter itself.
It is a light unit and doesn't spill easily.
So overall, it's okay, it does what it is supposed to, but due to lack of finding replacement filters at this time, and its similarities to the Brita, I don't think I can make the complete switch.
