PURGRAINS THAI GARLIC CHILI FLAVOUR
I was very excited to try this product. I have been trying to watch my weight this year and was looking for alternatives to rice and potatoes.
The packaging is great and all you have to do is open it up and warm it up in the microwave for 90 seconds. Perfect quick side dish.
The first thing I notice was the smell, it didn't smell too pleasing.
I was really hoping to like the taste but I did not. I was a bit too mushy for me. It wasn't very spicy didn't taste alot like garlic to me. Just not to my liking. Now that being said I would still go out and buy the other 2 flavours to taste and see.
Pur grains
I was looking forward to trying this product. I like that it is convenient and easy to heat up. However I was not a fan of the texture and it could have used more flavor.
Convenient food
Purgrains is a very convenient product. The food is already cooked and just takes 90 seconds to reheat in mircowave. Regarding the taste, it is just average to me.
Flavor and texture is off putting
I was excited to try this out but was pretty disappointed with the flavor and texture. I was expecting something sweet, coconutty and maybe a little spicy, however, this was a whole bunch of flavors that did not compliment each other. There was a little heat to it, it smelt more spicy than it actually is and I barely tasted the garlic. I felt like the it was too sour? not enough sweet and the "spiciness" enhanced the sour notes. The flavors were simply not blending and tasted like someone threw things together without thinking.
Moving on to the texture, it was a bit oily, uses multiple types of grains which caused a very interesting texture. I feel like these could be a nice base to make vegan burgers and not really a side dish. I personally did not like this texture.
The packaging is pretty standard and is well used with other "instant" products like this.
Overall, I would not buy this and I would not recommend it to anyone. #gotitfree #Chickadvisor #ProductReviewClub
Good flavor but spicy and funny texture
We got to try the Pürgrains "Thai Garlic Chili Flavour". It had a good garlic chili flavor but I personally found it pretty spicy (definitely too spicy for my kids) & I would have liked a spicy mention on the package. I also found the texture to be kind of a mush, so that could be improved. Overall alright but I would not buy this flavor again. #gotitfree #Chickadvisor
Produit différent
Le goût est légèrement épicé, assez sucré. On n'y trouve pas le goût du quinoa. La texture est assez pâteuse en bouche, on n'y sent pas vraiment la présence de grains de riz ou d'épeautre. Produit à améliorer.
Nutrient dense but spicy!
Very easy to make on the stove top and makes a great side dish. I really liked the mixture of quinoa, brown rice and farro. Lovely aroma while cooking, but my taste buds were on overdrive since the chili flavour was so strong.
I would definitely like to try the other flavours though since I don't think they would pack such a punch with spice.
Forget about it if you're on a budget
Smells Horrible, Taste Could Be Better
I received this from the product review club and I am glad I was able to try it free of cost because I am not a fan. It's quick and easy to prepare, just put it in the microwave for 90 seconds and let it sit for 30 seconds before serving. Problem number 1 with this product was the smell, the smell is so unappetizing that it made me want to gag. Once I got past the smell, I tried to have a positive mind while trying it, but the taste was not much better than the smell. The first few bites were horrible, but after eating more, it was better but still not that good. Maybe another flavour will taste better, but this one is not it. On the plus side, you get a good amount of fibre, protein and iron from it.
Not worth it
I tried the purgrains Thai garlic chili flavour and I cooked it on the stove top, following the instructions. The product cooks fast and resembles a sort of burrito filling, which is what I used it for. I believe the flavours are more similar to a stir fry, as it has a bit too much sweetness for my taste. There's a little kick which is nice as well. However, it is only one portion based on the package and is much too expensive just for a single serve side dish. I would not purchase it again, but it wasn't terrible.
