Hated the scent

Hair type: Short (pixie), thick, naturally wavy and greying brunette.

I’m surprised that I didn’t like this, I’ve loved some products in the past from R + Co, but I suppose hair products are always hit and miss. Mannequin’s descriptors are everything I would love ‘messy, matte, sexy styling paste’ with a ‘flexible hold’, basically for messy hair, but I didn’t find this was true to reality.

I would say it’s matte-ish, that’s the only thing I can give it. I still find there was a little too much ‘product’ look in my hair, matte products usually look more natural than this did. I found it was difficult to make it look messy or naturally texturised. I could make my hair stand straight up, but not much else. I was hoping this would allow for a textured messy look that wasn’t just spiked up, but that’s not the case here.

For me, the deal-breaker though was the scent. It’s described on their site as ‘Orange, Rhubarb, Cardamom, Juicy Fig, Guava, Blonde Woods, Amber’ but to me, it just smelled like grapefruit (a scent I hate). I guess maybe it’s the guava, but I couldn’t stand the scent.

I do like that it's vegan and cruelty free, but it just didn't work well with my short hair.
