It's a good blender that delivers on what it says it'll do.
When using this blender I found myself comparing it to using a natural makeup sponge.
I found this sponge applies foundation or powder smoothly and equally across my face, and the pointy end does help with getting especially into the corners between the eyes and nose. In fact, all the various angles of the blender moves things around nicely and comfortably across all contours.
I found a need to continuously be applying product to the blender, though, and then it leaves an artificial look. I also was not impressed with the feel of it - my skin just knew that it was artificial.
Overall this product doesn't compare to a natural sponge for a more natural and fresh foundation finish. I found it mediocre at best.
I thought this product is a great dupe for the beauty blender but it disappointed me. It is not soft as they advertised. It's too big and dense. It absorbs much product and doesn't dispense it as well as a beauty blender does.
When I used this with the Revlon Colorstay Foundation, this sponge began taking off my foundation! It began coming off in patches, and as I tried to blend it out, the Real Techniques sponge just seemed to soak up more of my foundation until I gave up and used my brush again. I used it wet, but I believe the pores on this sponge are just too large.
I tried to use this again with a more liquid foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me, and the same result occurred. It gave me a light coverage that looked smooth, but I would estimate that half of my initial foundation became soaked up in the sponge itself. Not good, even for the price point of this sponge!
This does not compare to the beautyblender in any way! If you are looking for an affordable sponge from the drugstore, I would definitely check out the L'Oreal pink sponge; it is an almost exact dupe for the beautyblender!
This sponge is mediocre all around. I absolutely love the Real Techniques brushes so I was expecting that this sponge would be a great dupe for the Beauty Blender. I'm so sad to say that this completely underwhelmed me. I could have gotten the same effect from wetting a triangle makeup sponge. I also found mould in it and ended up throwing it out after about a month. I'm really diappointed that this didn't work out for me, although I do think it's a cheap alternative for beginners who are learning how to apply makeup with a sponge.
