A Scrambling Good Time!
I really enjoyed testing this game. Although I did not get to try it with the older children yet, I got to use it with the 4 & 5 year olds. The 5 year old has a Rubik's Cube that he loves to play with, so he was quite excited to see this game. The regular gameplay was a little advanced for them, but they are below the age recommendations. The game has some alternative game options that we tweaked a little, and they had a blast.
The game comes with a 3-piece Playing Board- which is very easy to assemble, Instructions, a Scrambler Cube ( with a tight-fitting lid) , and 48 colored pieces. Each player gets 4 of each color to put on their side of the board. There will be one space left over which is used to play the game as a Sliding Puzzle. The scrambler cube (with 9 multi-colored cubes in it) gets shaken, and the color pattern that is shown is what each player is going to re-create in the middle 9 squares on their board by sliding the squares around until they match the scrambler cube color pattern. The first player to complete their puzzle lays the center divider down over their puzzle, signifying the win. The divider only covers the outer edge pieces of the board, leaving the middle 9 pieces exposed. The instructions also include several different ways to play, adding extra twists to the game.
There are no noisy bells or whistles, it does not require batteries, and is not complicated to play- just challenging to be the first one to complete your puzzle.
I like the metallic colors that they use for this game- it really gives it some extra 'Pop'. The game doesn't take up alot of space during use, making it great for travelling. All of the pieces fit nicely back into the box when you're done, I put the colored squares into a zip top baggie just to be safe. The only part of this game that I found I might change a bit would be the center divider, it doesn't always want to stay upright during active gameplay. But I think if I MacGyvered it with a rubber band and a paperclip it would be just fine. I would definitely recommend this game! A big Thank You to Spin Master for the opportunity to try out this game!
Great game but could be better
Received this game free for review by #familyratedclub. My 9 year old found it fun, a little challenging at first but once he got the hang of it he really enjoyed himself. Obviously it was not a good game for my 2 year old but she helped. I just wish it wasnt so easy for the pieces to come out. so if I had 1 suggestion to make the game better it would be that either the pieces were magnetic so they stayed better or even if they were interlocking. But we will definitely be playing this game in future game nights. Thank you #familyratedclub
Kids loved it!
Where children, age 9, 11, and 13. absolutely loved it!!! It’s a fun game, requires thinking, and is played almost every day at my house now. I highly recommend trying it!
Rubiks race
I received this product at no cost but to review.
This game has nice visual appeal and is very easy to
set up although many pieces and no extras so make
sure to store properly.
It is a simple concept of a game but definitely makes
you think. It is a nice twist to the original Rubik's cube
product. #familyratedclub
Makes you think
I received this game from #FamilyRatedClub as part of a Butterly review campaign. I must say I'm very thankful I did. Rubik's race is not a game that would typically catch my eye or stand out on the shelves to me. After receiving it to try it out and review it I can say I will be purchasing this game as gifts for others. It's such a neat challenge and every round you play is different so you can't get bored. I can say it is a brain bender at times. We take turns challenging each other (family of 3), the next time we have company over I will be putting it out to challenge others as well. Just when you think you have the hang of it something will throw you off, mostly the thought that your opponent might be faster then you. This game is lightweight, compact and could easily be taken on travel as well.
Fun but only for a short time,
My family of 4 all played the game! We found it was fun the first 2-3 times we played each other but then we all got tired of it and haven’t used it again. I like the idea but it’s not one of those games that you’d use a lot. The set up is easy and play is quick, you don’t need to be good at solving the real Rubik’s cube to be able to frigate this gam out. I like how you need to use your brain to solve the rubrik’s puzzle.
Entertaining
Very entertaining and enjoyable for the family or kids. Something to enjoy at home or even bring on a camping trip. The kinds and ourselves loved it . Thank you
Modern Spin on Classic Game
Our family really enjoyed testing this game! It reminded my husband and I of Battleship when we first opened it. Realistically, it's like a combination of Battleship, Rubix Cube & Boggle. We all agree that we would play this again, although our regular Rubix cube sits on the shelf collecting dust.
