Farmed Salmon
Evidently Safeway(Albertsons) policy is to list fish/Salmon in their meat case as “Fresh Fish” even if it’s farmed.
I selected the specific piece and the amount I desired to purchase. I checked out my groceries and went home to cook our salmon for dinner.
When my daughter got home, she exclaimed “You bought Farmed Salmon?!?”
I said no, I picked it out of the fresh meat case.
It was then she showed me super tiny writing on the sticky label- “farmed”. No fish for dinner that night. 🤨
The next day I returned and inquired as to why it wasn’t labeled as “Farmed” in the case.
He said “it’s not Safeway’s policy” .... uhhh wut??
I then spoke to the store manager; letting them know it’s deceptive to not list it as farmed before I take the time to choose the variety/amount and wait for them to wrap it.
She said I could call the 1-800 and let them know, but it’s their “policy”.
So...Safeway’s policy is “bait and switch sort of deception?? I guess they count on few to pay attention.
I requested a full refund ($23) AND a piece of their Frozen (Wild) salmon at no charge($28). I happen to know it’s a Safeway policy -to double compensate unhappy customers.
Oi!! #NeverAgain
