These Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens work well for making polka dots and other designs on your nails. The key is to apply it on a coating of nail polish and as soon as it dries, to cover it with a top coat. I find the colour stays on fairly well as long as you follow the instructions.
I was given a couple of these (white) and enjoy using them. I haven't progressed from dots yet (lol!) but would experiment first before attempting like, swirls. I have even used nail polish remover on the tip to remove the white & dipped it in another colour.
I bought two of these nail art pens one in white and one in pink. I love these pens. They are so easy to use. I bought them in the fine tip. You can get them in fine and round. The price is not too bad either. I find it easy to use and make cute designs on my nails. There are a couple things I have noticed though, my pretty pink one I bought would fade, so it went from being bright pink to white. Even with a top coat. This seemed to happen the longer I was in the sun. Also, if you don't put a top coat on as soon as it dries it will fade and rub off. Overall I do love these nail art pens and I will be going back to buy more in different colors.
I purchased this item on a whim at a discount store, and I was happily surprised by how well it worked! The polish/paint went on smooth, which is great as I have encountered "chunky" polish pens before. The polish lasted an average length of time. I would purchase this again but in some additional colours!
I have several colours of these and love them! I try to buy them when they are sale as they are a little pricey for me. They took a little getting used to buy I love them and get so many compliments when I use them. Working my way towards some more difficult designs. I find you must make sure you let you base coat dry thoroughly before using the pens. Also a top coat is a must with these or I find the nail art pen polish will wash off or fade without one.
Have tried a few of these pens and you have to be careful that you put a top coat on. Otherwise the design will wash off with water!!! (I learned the hard way) Great product and super handy!
These are cute and fun little pens that make nail art fairly easy. As other reviewers have said, it's more about the skill of the user than the pen itself, but it definitely makes doing cool designs easier than say a toothpick. They're pretty affordable and come in a variety of colours, and the pen itself is easy to use. Just shake it a few times and go at it. I wouldn't give them rave reviews because sometimes the polish comes out too fast and makes a mess, and sometimes it doesn't come out at all so you end up gauging away at the polish you have underneath because the tip is fairly stiff. That being said if you get the hang of using them you can actually make quite a few designs (i've done simple polka dots and strips, to tiny hearts and flowers, and of course letters!). Just make sure to put a clear coat overtop once they've dried, or else they will smudge!
I bought a few of these pens hoping that I could make pretty patterns on my nails.
You have to shake them before use and then press the tip of the pen down to get the paint flowing.
All I've been able to do so far with them is make small blobs. lol
That probably has a lot more to do with my art skill than the pen itself.
I use these now to make polka dots on my nails.
It's the only pattern I can seem to manage but I sure do love my polka dot nails!
After you put it on though, you should wait for it to dry. Then you absolutely have to put a clear coat over the top.
It'll chip off without a topcoat. Also, I went to the beach without a top coat once and it turned the pink polish white. So definitely get a top coat if you're going to invest in these pens.
They are priced well and they work pretty good, so I would recommend them :)
I got a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen at the local drugstore, and when I got home i attempted to do a french manicure. It turned out wonderfully and didn't chip until after a few days later. Just remember to put 2 clear coats after it dries to prevent smearing and chipping.
