When i first bought this product i thought it would be a easy way to get perfectly manicured nails, But i was clearly wrong. The strip are don't stay on, they peel away easily. The designs are pretty good but look horrible on and takes way to long to put on.
Not worth the effort
First off, these things are expensive. And you only get one manicure out of them. Because they are real polish strips, they will dry out without hours of opening so you can't save left overs for a second mani. If you have small enough toes you can get a mani and pedi out of one set, but it requires a lot of cutting to get one strip in to 3-4 pieces so you have enough to do all your toes. I can be done and it's not terribly difficult, just fiddly.
Applying them looks simple, but in practice you need to have a steadier hand than you would to just apply nail polish. Strips need to be trimmed to fit your cuticle, which can be very difficult for beginners. And if they aren't applied perfectly the first time, too bad because you can't reposition them. If your nail wasn't prepped perfectly, too bad, because that sucker is going to fall off in 2 hours. If you don't file the edge straight down with the perfect amount of pressure, too bad, because now water is going to get under that strip and boom! no more polish on that nail.
If, after all that, you do manage to get them on perfectly, don't get too excited. These chipped off my nails within hours. The edges aren't smooth, so they get caught on things and pull away and if any water gets under the strip (like ANY water. Don't even sweat) they will peel right off. You'll be lucky to get a full day of wear.
Putting a gel top coat can extend the wear to a few days, but most people don't have a gel lamp.
So after all that, you need to remove them, well the fun doesn't stop here. As soon as the acetone is open, the strips during to a sticky, gummy and sometimes glittery mess that leaves a really weird residue on your cuticles and nails. Seriously, the mess starts before you even start using the remover. Its like the stripes get a whiff of the fumes and immediately start to denature. And don't even bother with acetone free remover, or even regular strength remover. The stripes just turn in to a gummy mess without even coming off the nails and leave a thin layer of glitter over everything you love. So unless you use straight acetone, the gummy mess isn't going anywhere.
So after all that, you are out $12, have dried out nails, likely with some glitter wedges under your cuticles and you only got about half a days worth of wear from that mani.
Skip this product, and invest in a decent base, colour and top coat. Even if you have an unsteady hand you can clean up the cuticles and have a mani that lasts a few days at least and it didn't cost $12 per mani.
I'm not sure if I was doing it wrong, but these just did not work for me. I have seen some people who are able to make them look amazing.. this product was just not for me.. I have an easier time with actual polish or going out to get them done!
It is a genius idea to have stick on “nail polish” for those who do not like to apply nail polish themselves. Unfortunately, this was a complete fail for me since I have very short nails which made it difficult for me to manipulate the stickers and for it to actually stick on my nails. I also feel that instructions are not very clear. I had to YouTube tutorials to properly use this. Also, packaging needs to be improved. Peeling off the 3 packages with the nail strips can be challenging. You definitely need the wooden stick that comes with it to open the package. The grey strips used to peel off the nail stickers were often very difficult to get a proper grip. I also found it difficult to separate the French tips. Needless to say, it took me about an hour per hand the first time I tried it. Retailing at approx. $10 a kit, this is quite the splurge considering it is only for one time use. While it is still cheaper than getting a French manicure done at the salon, I recommend that this kit include 2 applications. This way, there is room for trial and error. Despite all of my struggles, the end result was nice and my nails looked like they were professionally done. I can’t say if they last long because I had to remove them right away since I messed up my right hand and had no extra stickers to correct myself. I think that this would be much easier to apply for those with long nails.
These nail stickers are terrible don't waste your money! They are made of fabric and don't stick very well. When you apply them and fit them on your nail the ends get all sticky any kind of fluff will stick to the end of your nail!
My experience with Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips wasn't very good. I applied the strips and literally within a couple hours they were starting to peel off. The couple that weren't peeling off I ended up taking off the same day. I will admit perhaps it's because I had never used the product before and didn't know how to use them as well as I should or perhaps I just got a defective batch. I'm happy to see other people have had better experiences than I have.
I got these as a gift for Christmas and just used them 2 weeks ago for a night on the town. They were not as "easy" as they say! They smell worse then nail polish. I actually went outside to finish my other hand because people were complaining at my friends house. They also say that they will last up to 10 days. Well they did, but they started to chip less then 24 hours after putting them on. I'm still trying to pick pieces off.
They looked nice for the time being but the next day they looked like crap.
I personally will never buy them because I can paint my nails and they will last longer then these! I will try other brands but I think the nail stickers just aren't for me!
Would probably never purchase this product again. Took me an hour to apply the strips they were a pain in the butt to use. Within 4 days the chipped! I would never pay $10 for these strips. If Sally Hansen offers me a FPC maybe but for now I'll stick to regular nail polish.
