Wow! My husband loves this razor and so do I lol its smooth shave leaves skin feeling so soft. The cut is clean and the precision is spot on. Not only does it work great for my husbands face but I've never had such smooth legs ;)
Good razor. Would buy again but
It’s a good razor. It was given to me as a present for Christmas. I find I went though the things a bit faster then my usually razor but it did a great job either way.
A cut above the rest
The Schick Hydro 5 sense energize works great, even after multiple uses. Between alternating between head and facial shaving I was able to do both at the absolute least twice. This isn’t saying that the blade can’t go longer, but that it worked the best during that much usage. I likely could have used it for a few more facial shaves and highly recommend it.
Not a fan of the new features, but overall a good razor
The actual shave that this razor provides is good, very close to the skin and smooth. The problems I have with this razor come from the two additional selling points: the hydrating gel pools and the shock absorbing technology. If these two features were not present, I would probably have a higher opinion of this razor.
Let’s start with the gel pools. The idea is that they slowly release a hydrating gel onto your skin as you shave, making it easier on your skin and less irritated. This works, but every time I used it it worked far too well. You only need a little bit of hydrating gel to take the edge off the irritation, and yet every time I shaved I found the razor produced so much gel that it started to annoy me and get in the way of my routine. By the end of the shave my face had so much gel on it that I actually wished the feature was removed from the product. If it produced maybe 1/5th of the gel, it would be great.
The shock absorbing feature is also a mixed bag. When going over the jaw and other curved areas, I see the benefits of it. The razor rotates very smoothly over these areas and accommodates how much pressure you apply for an even shave. This takes some getting used to, but after a little while, it was simple to use. However anytime I had to shave smaller areas (upper lip for example) the shock absorbing made it difficult to control, and led to me cutting my skin several times. You do have the option of locking this feature, at least, but I feel like it’s a bit of a waste to implement a feature like this but never actually use it.
Overall I think this razor is fine, with some features that actually hold it back rather than improve it. The shave was still a good one at the end of the day, I just wish it had been a more straightforward experience.
