Great at first .. but then
I received this product as a part of the Chickadvisor Review Club. I was very excited to be chosen as a busy mom with long black hair and the beginnings of the much dreaded greys I was excited to try something that may help when time eludes a full head dye.
I always colour my hair at home but sometimes find that it’s exactly when I am too busy to fix it the greys creep back. When I receive this product was one of those times. I definitely had some grey roots going on. The first few times I tried the product it worked great... the third time the container started sputtering and ended up splashing my face and wall. Both were easy clean up but later in the day I noticed the spot it had landed on my cheek was sore and actually burnt.
Pros: covered well, fast and easy. No bad smell. Sleek packaging.
Cons: the failing of the spray on the cab was definitely annoying, but for me personally I won’t buy the product again because of the burn to my skin which was small but I am glad it didn’t get on a larger area.
Over all the idea is great but this one just didn’t cut it for me. It’s definitely worth a shot though to see if it works for you!
Troublesome application

As it may seem easy to spray and go. It ended up a mess!. It would be preventable when it is in gel form.
Not recommended as it did not save me time.
Otherwise once it is on, it looks great
Does an OK job
I was super excited to try this product out as soon as I received it, complements of ChickAdvisor! I wasn't really sure how to use it, so I used it as I do dry shampoo - shook it and held it under an arm's length away, pretty far from my hair and sprayed. It comes out a lot wetter than regular dry shampoo, which feels more powdery off the bat and there was some dark residue that will land on your clothes so don't wear your best clothes and/or make sure you protect your clothes with an old towel. It did provide decent coverage, which is fine for a quick fix, but it certainly doesn't replace a good old trip to the hairdressers (but this is why this product exists!). All in all, a decent product and I'm glad to have it when I have an event to attend and need a quick touch up but haven't had time to get my hair done.
Very messy
So I was given the oppurtunity to try this product through chickadvisor and most of my root touch up is my greys at the hair line and temples, this product was very messy and got all over my skin since it was a spray. If it were for top part touch up, maybe it would be less messy, but no.. I definitely would not purchase this product. Thank you chickadvisor for the try before you buy opportunity
A little disappointed
I was excited to receive this aerosol root retoucher and have been wanting to try this type for a while but thought it was a bit expensive. Thanks to Chickadvisor it was nice to be able to try it for free. I have used other root retouchers in between colourings such as the cream type in a lipstick format as well as the powder type that you brush on. The first time I tried the Schwarzkopf Root Retoucher, I thought it was good - covered nicely without being too sticky/gummy. However after subsequent uses I found that the nozzle splattered globs onto my scalp as well as on my freshly done make up. I also didn’t like how I could not control the spray around my hairline without making a mess, for example on my grey sideburns. I don’t think I’ll buy it unless I get a super deal on it. I think I still prefer the brush on powder type as it gives me better control and less mess.
Didn’t work on my greys :(
I had high hopes for this product. I #gotitfree as part of the Chickadvisor product review club.
My hair has started to get a few greys since having a kid, especially around my face. I hoped this would work to cover them up or as a bridge if some growth is showing after colouring. I found the colour didn’t take well on the greys compared to my natural hair - maybe the texture doesn’t absorb the spray well?
I also found it a bit messy to apply. The spray was quite strong and applied it in a concentrated area rather than more diffuse. I like the concept, but I think a paintbrush application would have worked better for the purpose of touching up spot areas and roots.
It was ok but not what I expected
I was excited to try this product as I love the idea. I did find the bottle was very well designed and great size however the root touch up was very watery and because of this it was hard to get good touch up. I would give it another try as perhaps it’s not supposed to be so watery.
mediocre
if you are in a pinch and need to cover up a few greys for a short period of time and didnt have time to color your hair this would work for you but this is not any sort of long term solution and not good in wet situations (rain/sweat). has filmy texture when dries and is similar to halloween hair color that you srpay in and wash out same day. i wouldnt go to bed with it in your hair as it would likely transfer to your pillow.
Good temporary fix if you don’t mind the mess
I received this product free to review thanks to chickadvisor. #gotitfree #tryRootRetoucher this product came with s spray nozzle to help direct the product to a specific root area however can be tricky to apply. If you apply with the nozzle too far away you can get product in places you don’t want to. Clean up however is super easy as it can be washed out with one shampoo. I took s baby wipe to the area that I didn’t mean to spray and had no problem with removal. The product doesn’t stink but doesn’t smell great either. This is a fair product as a temporary fix. Of course b/c it is temporary I wouldn’t recommend going to sleep with it still in your hair as there will be residue in your pillows.
Not Impressed
I was lucky enough to be selected to try this for free, thanks to the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. I have mixed feelings about this product, more bad than good. Firstly, there are no instructions on the can, other than to "Shake well". Big no-no #1. Next, it has a strong smell. I also don't like that there are only 3 shades to choose from, when there are way more than 3 shades of hair color in this world. I don't like how it makes my hair look dull, BUT....I DO like how it covers my roots, and random grey areas easily, and doesn't make my hair stiff as other root cover-up sprays have in the past. I also like that once it is fully dry, it doesn't transfer much on to clothes or skin. Washes out fairly easily. Would I go out and actually buy this ? NO, but it was fun to try. Never know if you like something till you try it. Thanks ChickAdvisor !
**Edit**
I got mine in the color Black.
