The @schwarzkopf root retoucher lives up to its claim.
It covered my regrowth and gray hairs. The nozzle is small enough to deliver a precise application and the colour blended well.
Unfortunately, I did encounter some downsides. You have to avoid touching your hair, it stained my figures when I accidentally touched my head. It rubbed off on my light colour shirt (something I would expect anyways). I only use sulfate-free shampoo, so it took some scrubbing of my scalp to remove the colour.
Just a couple of tips: it’s hard to see, but if you are looking for the instructions the back label is double-sided, so just peel up the bottom left corner. Also, you might need a sulfate shampoo to completely rinse this out. It might be helpful to apply the colour to a toothbrush, then brush that onto your hair to avoid applying too much.
I work in the film industry, so I can see using this for a quick touch up on set. I also see using it if I am styling my hair in a high bun where my roots might show.

My experience was not a good one
Even though I #gotitfree this is something I've been looking forward to trying for a while. Unfortunately, from the time I applied to test this product to the time I actually got i (there was a long break over xmas), I stopped dying my hair!
I thought I should still give it a go to see how it reacts on greys. Because I have short hair I had a lot of them in regrowth. Even though it did cover most of them, it seemed to struggle with the pure white ones and I didn't like how paint-like it was.
To me, it seems like they just rebranded that old 'cover-paint' aerosol they tried to convince balding men to use. Innovative, but it doesn't really work any better now than it did then. There are a couple of massive problems that would make me not want to use this.
1. Rather than being a mist like spray, it often threw globs of paint out that then dripped onto my clothing. Being a good aim with an aerosol I hadn't expected to have to change clothes and now one of my nice pink shirts is ruined. In the wash, the stains might be fading (or maybe it's my imagination), but they aren't gone after one wash.
2. It never full dries. Your hair feels heavily hair sprayed while wearing it, but the real problem is no-one can touch that part of your hair. So if you have a partner who touches through your hair, he's going to stain his hands. It will also stain your pillow if the root coverage part you applied to sits on there at all.
3. For me, it absolutely destroyed my hair, leaving it very dry and uncomfortable through several washes.
I think it would work ok for those who only have small roots and want to use it briefly for one night, but I don't think I'd use it again and I don't really think it's suitable for regular use.
It Does the Job!
I received the SCHWARZKOPF ROOT RETOUCHER in the dark brown shade from ChickAdvisor to try for free in exchange for my honest opinion and I really enjoyed the results. I have naturally mousy brown hair and have been dyeing it dark since I have had my own money and was able to get it done. As anyone who dyes their hair knows, that %$#! is expensive and the upkeep is demanding! I usually go get a root touch up every 4 weeks on average which usually runs me about $100 bucks each time. I have seen root touch up products in stores before, but oddly enough, have never purchased them! Well, thanks to ChickAdvisor.. that all changed!
The salon I get my hair done at actually uses Schwarzkopf dye so I was happy that the product was a salon trusted brand and was a good quality product. The Root Re-toucher is a new product by them which claims to easily disguise your natural hair color in seconds. It claims to 100% cover light and grey regrowth in an instant and washes out after one shampoo! My thoughts? well...
I used it three days before my regular 5 week root touch up - so my roots were BAD. First I wanted to read the directions but I couldn't find them anywhere on the bottle?! I don't know if I am blind or if they weren't there but either way I managed.. I did notice it said 'shake well' on the can so I made sure to do that and then I sprayed away! It has a smaller applicator that is good for precision spraying which I really liked. It was easy to spray on without error or wasting product in places that did not require any color. At first when I sprayed I was a little baffled at how little coverage it gave but then I realized that as the product sits it actually blends more and does a great job of covering the light areas. Again, I wish this would have been on the bottle as I feel like I wasted product by excessively trying to cover my regrowth. After about 3 minutes my roots were much darker and you could hardly tell the difference. My hair is DARK brown and I almost wish I would have chosen the black color to try instead of the dark brown. The color matched good, but it was not a perfect match. In certain lighting and upon examining up close you can still see the shade difference. The product is also a little bit messy so be careful about wearing light colored clothes when applying. I managed to get this all over the sink and bathroom counter (It came off easy right away!) and all over my forehead... oops. I mentioned before that the slim applicator was awesome, and it is! It's the after drips that get everywhere and make the mess.
The product is not yet available in Canadian stores so I can't say whether or not the price on this product is worth it. I would probably pay around $15 max for this product as I feel like you won't get the 25 uses it claims. It does a great job of covering light/grey roots and is extremely easy to use. It washes out easily and does not irritate the scalp. Other then being slightly messy and the color not matching 100% I feel like this is a fantastic product for root touch ups in-between salon appointments and I will most likely purchase this in the future. If you have root problems and don't like spending the money every 3 weeks to get a touch up, this is a great option for you! But be careful, its messy!

#tryRootRetoucher, #CreateYourStyle #gotitfree. Definitely a go to product if you are the type of person who gets too frustrated with having grey hair grow so quickly and you don’t always have time to have your hair dyed.
Doesn’t apply well - messy and dulls the hair
I tried this product as soon as receiving it as I was exactly a week away from my salon root job, so perfect timing, I have previously used a similar product from l’Oreal which I am fairly satisfied with. I sprayed this in one section of hair and found the color acceptable but a touch dark for a dark blonde. It also left my hair dull. I slept on it and it didn’t transfer on to my sheets. The next morning I decided to do the other sections with gray hair showing and when I pressed down the spray came out in messy globs instead of a fine spray that went all over my face, my shirt and bathroom mirror and counter. I was very annoyed having just cleaned my bathroom the previous day. I washed the shirt I was wearing today and the color did NOT come out. It did however wash out of my hair when I washed it today. Go figure. Now I’m out a shirt for trying this product. I am not happy.
I will always buy this now!
I received Schwarzkopf Root Retouched from Chick Advisor in the mail, to test out on my hair's root regrowth.
It not only matched my hair colour exactly, but it covered my roots completely!!! I am super impressed, and so excited that this product exists - no more embarrassment, or having to wear my hair in a ponytail to hide the gray!!
Thank you Chick Advisor for this amazing trial, and thank you to Schwarzkopf for such an incredible product!! Yay!!
SCHWARZKOPF ROOT RETOUCHER
When I decided to test this product I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I have some grey and thinning area on the sides. I decided to try it there. I was pleasantly surprise how quick it covered the area. It left the area a bit stiff like its hairspray. I didn’t mind the texture for a one night quick fix. I liked how it covered the thinning area. I will use this again. Thanks for the chance to try.
Great Product, But ...
I was very excited to try the Schwarzkopf Root Retoucher as I was in between colorings and had some roots/grey showing. I have dark brown haIr and loved the coverage of the product however, did not like how the product was dispensed. When spraying onto your roots, it applies very forcefully due to the small nozzle and aerosol aspect of delivery. It would be much easier to control if the product was in a non-aerosol spray type bottle. The product itself is great, however I probably won't repurchase because of how messy the application is.
