I tried the Scotch Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape for free as a part of the Chick Advisor Product Review Club. I had a pair of jeans I had been meaning to take in to hem. While the product did the trick when it came to hemming my jeans. I really prefer a more 'clean' 'finished' look to my jeans so would probably just get them permanently hemmed in the future. Having said that it was nice to have the option to adjust the hem based on what type of shoes I was wearing! I would recommend this for a quick fix maybe for children clothes or even for sleeves. If I use it again it won't be for jeans!
We all have them. Those pants that are just a bit too long or that skirt with the hem that's fallen apart. I normally just deal with it; roll up the pants, only wear them with heals, or get out the trusted safety pin. I would love to hem them permanently but I worry that I would sow them up the wrong length and make matters worst. Scotch Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape solved this problem. It goes on quick and easy and leaves me with the piece of mind that if I need to make an adjustment, I CAN!
Got this product for a free review from ChickAdvisor (always forget to add this and then can't edit my post...)
I don't own an iron, I can't sew and I am short, so this is the perfect product to help me hem my pants in a snap. I'm glad it's not permanent and that it can work with pants, dresses or skirts. It's packaging is small enough for my purse in a hem-ergency. The only downfall for me would be the retail price, as I believe a more permanent solution might be more cost effective in the long run.
I wasn't as happy with this one as the other two. I received this free to try from #ChickAdvisor. I found it similar to the permanent one but I would be someone to forget to take it off before washing and just make a mess. I also would rather have a permanent solution than have to do it every time I wanted to wear the pants. I also found it weird that it was more expensive than the one that was permanent since each strip was a one time use. Although it did come with more in the package.
This needs to be removed prior to washing. Didn't like that aspect. Great for an emergency. Had to be removed
These were OK for holding my pants hem in pace but I did find it a pain to have to remove before washing. I would much rather a permanent solution to fixing my hem line. They would be good if you had to borrow a pair of pants and didn't want to hem them permanently.
This came in handy for my kids Halloween dress up party. Took me a while to figure out.. But it worked and I was ecstatic. By the next evening though we couldn't use the clothes for trick or treating because the tape had unglued in different sections, so had repeat the process which was a bummer. I got this free in exchange for an honest review, thanks to Chick Advisor and Scotch essentials but I probably wouldn't purchase.
Chickadvisor let me try this for free but this is my own personal opinion and I thought it was a cool item to try. It helps when you need to quickly hem something in an emergency. Its a quick, cheap and easy fix in comparison to a professional.
I received this item for free from ChickAdvisor to review. This is a great way to hem pants if you are borrowing it from someone or if you want to hem a pair of pants that you do not wear often because you need to remove the tape before putting it in the washing machine, drying machine or before ironing it. For $7.99 for 30 strips (15 pairs of pants), that can become quite expensive.I would also recommend this for baby clothes because you can buy a size up, use the Hem tape until the baby or kid has outgrown it. On the plus side, it is very easy to use and the tape is strong enough to last the day. It is even strong enough on heavier material such as jeans.
