Best grass seed

For just over a year now, I’ve been redoing my backyard. Last summer I placed sod which 70% of it died on me. I decided to go the grass seed route. I’ve been working my butt off to get grass to grow in my backyard and Scott’s Turf Builder has been amazing! My grass is starting to come up nice and thick. The only thing I would change would be a scent or something that would deter birds from eating it. They’re my biggest issue.
