This was more enjoyable than the usual romance/erotica novel, as the writing was better and there was more depth to the character, but I found so many situations to be unbelievable and worse of all this was turned into a trilogy when it should have been left as a novel. I won't be reading the rest of the series based on what I was shown, but it's not a lost cause. If you like erotica then it may be worth considering finishing the trilogy, though based on how this book ended it doesn't look like there will be bunch sex to go for the main character (reading the summary of book two, it looks like there's an additional POV character there - probably to fill in that role of adventurous whore while Cassie deals with the new drama in her life).
So much of this novel was just unbelievable. S.E.C.R.E.T is ridiculous, Cassie diving in to something like this when she hasn't even had a one night stand in her life is ridiculous, and the situations are also ridiculous. How fortunate for Cassie that a fairy godmother came around to change her life! This takes fantasy to a whole new level of stupidity. The only thing that saved this novel from a one star was that Cassie actually had a proper life outside of the sex she had, and the writing was alright. Having something else to focus on and hope for, like her relationship with Will, was far more important and worth following than the debauchery she engaged in. There were a few times I was confused in the novel because of how the author described things - or ghosted over during describing things. There were so many mentions of French things that I thought the novel was set in France even though it probably mentioned the correct location many times in the first chapter, and from the way Tracina was described I thought she was white so many times (she is black, right? I'm still not sure). I hated Cassie's rivalry with her, too. It felt like the character solely existed so that she could have an enemy, as their interactions were so terribly 'scripted' and she was never painted in a good light.
There are so many other things that could be pointed out and laughed at, but with the cliffhanger and laughable problem that we were given (a threat from Mr. Rich-and-Powerful that close to the ending of course would have us believing that no way the baby is Will's, c'mon; it was a pointless addition that was added to make a novel into a trilogy, that's all) there really isn't a need. I'd rather read poorly written romance novels instead of something like this again because at least they don't pretend to be something else. Surely there's better erotica out there than this, too, if the steamy sex is what you're after (there's not much to be excited about here, just the exploring of fantasies that Cassie never had before the pimp, Matilda, came into the picture). Stick with the one shot novels if you're interested in romance or erotica as you'll save yourself the headache of dealing with a novel that tries to read like chick lit and erotica at the same time.
