Cat toy or brush?

My cats see the brush and run then they come for a few brushes and then run and then they will come back and attack it, I found it didnt pick up the hair like I wanted it to but my cats are short haired, I think a longer haired cat would really benefit from this brush.

My guy Shadow just loves this brush and whenever he sees it he comes running wanting to be brushed and as you can see he even loves to play with it afterwards and has even curled up and had a nap with it.
