Up until this campaign I’d honestly, never heard of Shu Uemura. So, if you live under a rock like me, Shu Uemura is an worldwide makeup & hair care brand that was founded & run by Japanese make-up artist, Shu Uemura. Alas, he passed away in 2007, but he was very well recognized for his revolutions in beauty industry.
I did have to research how to use this product unfortunately, as there was no instruction listed on the bottle (at least not in English) – shout out to #Sephora website for the instructions! (it is also noted on Shu Uemura website but Sephora’s showed up first in my search.
The smell of this cleansing oil is wonderful (although it does note “perfume” as an ingredient, which if you follow my reviews, you know I’m not a fan of added fragrances, etc) but overall great smelling. I thought it would leave an oily residue on my face, but nope! It left a super delicate, cashmere like feeling to my skin, once rinsed. This is no without a doubt, because this illustrious, nutritive cleansing oil actually comprises of eight precious oils, including cold pressed, Japanese Tsubaki oil (also known as Camellia Japonica Oil) which can help repair skin by enhancing the moisturise and smoothness of your skin. Basically, its amazing at removing your makeup and other impurities, without harsh ingredients like most makeup removers.
In general, I quite liked this product, the way it made my skin feel and how easily it removed my makeup – I will continue to use it! It’s a reasonably priced product with high quality oils & extracts (Zea Mays Germ Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius Seed Oil, Glycine Soja Oil, Butyrospermum, Parkii Butter, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Extract).

#tryShuUemura, I am absolutely floored with this product for cleaning my skin! The impurities it removed was just bar none incredible! I will be shouting about this oil from now on. My skin is left feeling so soft and just amazing!

Great At Removing Makeup

I received this cleansing oil for free to try in exchange for my honest review from Shu Uemura and ChickAdvisor #gotitfree. I have dry skin and found that this oil was really good at cleansing my skin without stripping it, it didn't feel tight or irritated afterwards. I got to test the 50ml bottle ($19.00 on Sephora) so I got to use it quite a few times before leaving this review. The texture is extremely watery but the bottle does a very good job at making sure only a little comes out at a time. What I didn't like was that because it was so watery I couldn't really tell where it was on my face because after I applied it I couldn't feel it. I ended up going over my face a few times to make sure it was clean. It's better to use it in front of a mirror so you can see what your doing instead of in the shower like I did. Where it really won me over is how easily it removes makeup it absolutely melts it off. It removed thick winged eyeliner and mascara in seconds. I also liked the light floral scent it has. I'm giving it 4/5 stars because of how well it works the only thing that would prevent me from purchasing it again would be the price.

Made my skin feel amazing!

I have used this every night for 2 weeks straight. I do not have an pre-existing skin issues such as acne or sensitivity on my face and have used oils on my face before. Never in a cleanser format though so this was new to me. The first thing I noticed is that a little goes a long way. I still have 3/4 of a 50ml bottle left so it will last me a good couple months. The next thing I noticed was the scent. Very light and soft. It's not overpowering or overwhelming in any way. The oil spreads nicely with my fingers all over my face. And when I add some water to emulsify it, it lathers up a bit. It made my face ridiculously soft. I mean to the point where I am sitting at my desk working and catch myself stroking my cheek with the back of my fingers lol. You would think this cleanser might leave a residue or feel "heavy" on your face since it is an oil but it washes clean off and I can snap my fingers as soon as it's washed off. This is a really nice cleanser and I am so happy I got the chance to try it. I should also note that while I would purchase again, a quick google told me that regular price of the product might be out of my budget range. All that means is that I would watch for sales and buy when it is more affordable for me. Otherwise, this is truly an awesome cleansing oil and I'd have no problems recommending to others!!!

I love a good double cleanse!

I recieved a sample of the Ultime8 Cleansing Oil for free from Butterly/Chick Advisor and I love it a lot. I am a big fan of double cleansing and this oil removed most of my makeup without feeling super oily on my skin. I followed it up with my normal cleanser and my face was very clean afterwards!

Cleansing oil

I’ve always been a huge fan of Shu Uemura’s hair products, but I’ve never tried their skincare. I was quite pleased: this oil removes any dirt and makeup, but it also leaves your skin glowing afterwards.

Love it!

I was a little skeptical to try cleansing oil, I was always taught that oil causes breakouts on your face. But the Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil, cleared up what acne I had, and left my face feeling so clean and soft. I highly recommend!

wasn’t great

i got a sample and it was water coming out so barely had time to catch it in my hands and it left makeup behind i even washed my face after with a wipe to check i was disappointed

Breaks it down!

This cleansing oil breaks down all of your makeup and sunscreen. I used it after an outdoor event and my skin was left feeling clean and soft with no makeup or spray sunscreen residue

Not effective for makeup removal

I received a free sample of this product from Butterly. This product did not work for me at all. I wear light make-up (concealer, mascara, powder and brow gel). I tried using this oil 3 times to remove my makeup, but the oil could not get rid of the mascara (which was not waterproof). I had to keep rubbing my lashes, and I eventually resorted to finish the job with micellar water.
