Incredible movie!! Now I know why it got best picture of the year award. The acting for very very good, very believable. It's a bit depressing but it's still worth watching. The soundtrack is also extremely good.I highly recommend this movie!
I originally saw this movie before the hype, entirely because Dev Patel (who is in my favorite show, Skins) was in it. It's easily one of my favorites now, I've seen it twice in theaters (once with my friend and once with my boyfriend- who also loves it!) and now own the DVD. No matter how many times I've watched it, I never grow weary watching it like I do with most movies. It kept me hooked the whole way through, and each time I watch it, tears well up. Such a beautiful movie and the music is fantastic, I'd recommend it for anyone. :)
This is a great great movie. I ended up seeing Slumdog Millionaire twice in a weekend, once with a group of ladies and the second time with my boyfriend! I disagree that a macho man wouldn't like it because mine actually loved it and couldn't stop talking about it after the fact. I think the movie has something for everyone and from the moment it started until the very end I found it gripping and riveting. I would highly recommend seeing this movie.
I've watched this movie twice already and loved it both times! The story's ending itself is fantastical, what are the odds of that happening? But the tragic day to day existance of the children, the tragedies, the violence, everything (yes even the spoon thing) is unfortunately very much real in that part of the world.
This movie is an eye opener for a lot of people who live in the lap of luxury and don't know how our brothers and sisters on the other side of the globe are living.
I always thought that this wolrd is overpopulated as it is, instead of having your own, why not adopt a child and bring it up as your own? This movie really reinforced that for me. Who can say after seeing the reality these children live in, that they wouldn't do something to help even one of them?
Its an amazing movie.. a definate must see!! It has romance, action, violence, comedy and reality... something for everyone :)
I saw this movie tonight and I am absolutely in love with it! This is the best movie I have seen in quite some time!
I personally thought the movie had a little bit of something for everyone; romance, action, violence, comedy all rolled into one amazing film told through flashbacks and memories. This is a love story; uniquely told and I was truly impressed!
As Mamaluv mentioned, Dev Patel gave a stellar performance and also did steal my heart away but the child actors in the movie were great as well and just so damn cute.
I definitely will be seeing this again.
I just saw this movie last night, and can simply say that the critics and Academy Award folks got it right. This is a must-see!
I have not seen a Bollywood production before and didn't know what to expect. The story is simple yet engrossing, the characters for the most part very well played, and every other aspect is so un-Hollywood that it adds an unexpected but welcome flair.
I bawled, which I don't often do. The plot is satisfying, if perhaps a little predictable. The actors are fresh and Dev Patel in particular has hit my radar in a big way (oh, to be 10 years younger...) I think I have a little crush right now.
See it, but with your girlfriends. Macho men will appreciate neither the blubbering nor the daydreamy sighs you'll utter all the way home. The movie itself, while at times violent, is a thinker and Dev's character too romantic for the Bruce Willis fans.
