90% OF CHICKS DIG IT
In my purse I probably carry about 6 different lip glosses, but the one item that I can never leave home without is my Rosebud Salve. When I don't have time in the morning to put on makeup, I apply it to my lips and it will last for hours. The other great thing about it is that it enhances the natural colour of my lips.
Most lip balms have a waxy feel and you have to constantly reapply it. I have tried many lip balms, but this is definitely my favourite.
Smith's Rosebud Salve is a lovely multipurpose product. I was a skeptic at first since how great can it be, especially if it supposedly does so many things? (Jack of all trades, master of none syndrome.) Among its many uses, it is a lip balm, a moisturizer, a zit treatment, a diaper rash treatment, etc.
I mainly use it for my chapped lips. It does a great job at conditioning them to a more manageable feel - much like my beloved Kiehl's lip balm but without the greasy feeling.
This past week, I also used it on the annoying zit on my chin that wouldn't go away, even though I attacked it with benzoyl peroxide and a good extraction attempt. A dap of the Rosebud Salve at night before bed and the next morning it had dried up! I am a convert! Nothing has ever worked of fast and effectively.
The smell is definitely rose as the name suggests. I don't find it overpowering or nauseating but I can see how others would. The salve comes in a tin which can get unsanitary but just remember to only apply with clean fingers and you should be fine. There is a lot of product so it will take a long time to get through the whole thing.
I'm about 2/3 way through my pot, and i'm not all that excited about it. not too sure what the hype is about. but i do agree it is better than average. but i wont be repurchasing.
I like the product but I feel that it isn't as great as advertised. This product is just...glorified petroleum jelly.
Goods: It does a good job moisturizing, but I wouldn't use it as a regular lip moisturizer (not too sanitary to be putting your finger in there all the time). It does any ordinary job at moisturizing your lips. It's good as a cuticle moisturizer and a good for glossy makeup. Has good quantity and will last you a while. Cute vintage look.
Bads: It smells funky. Packaging could be better (the lid of the tin isn't very secure). Wouldn't even think of using it on my blemishes.
All in all, the hype around this product sold me but I don't think I will be buying it again. I'm better off sticking to vaseline.
The best thing about this is that you can't beat the price. And it lasted me forever because you only need a dab. It did feel like it moisturized my lips pretty well, but I thought it smelled really strange and the texture is pretty thick and sticky. The biggest problem is that I don't like products that come in jars or tins because I have to use my fingers (I'm a bit of a germophobe!). I wouldn't buy this again for a lip balm, but I would recommend it for dry cuticles and rough elbows & heels.
I love this balm because it's a multi-purpose product. My lips always feel moisturized and soft and I can use it on my cuticles and my baby's sensitive skin. I also use it to highlight my cheekbones when I don't want a shimmer but rather a glow.
I like how it made my lips feel and look so smooth after one application but the scent makes me nauseous
Excellent Lip Balm. It doesn't have a bad taste and doesn't stay goopy on your lips. It's sort of like a Vaseline but better because it tastes better and it absorbs into your lips quickly leaving them soft and kissable.
