I was excited to get to review this product as part of the product review club. And just like the other 2 flavors this was a very good product. I gave a bit more detail in my review of the citrus scent, if you check it out it's a bit more extensive on how it worked for me. As for the bergamot, very interesting smell, very light, and subtle and that is a plus if you are using it under a lipstick or lipgloss as a primer. I did find that is about the only way I can use it. But I said it once and I'll say it again, this might not be the case for everyone, each person has a different reaction to different products. Some one else might find it better to use as a stand alone. On, a final note, it's in a cute package, looks just like a lipstick tube and it's worth a try.
If you are a SoftLips fan, you'll love this lip balm. It has all the light moisturizing of the old formula but with better ingredients. Even though it has a mild fragrance, there is virtually no taste to the product so you'll be less inclined to lick it all off. I find this especially annoying when I'm drinking something and the Fruits of the Forest taste mingles with my coffee! No problems with this product.
Of the three I've tried (fragrance free, citrus, and bergamot), this flavor rates in the middle. I prefer the fragrance free just a little more, but would probably buy this one again if I can't find my favorite.
Having already reviewed the other flavors of Soft Lips - I have to say that Bergamot was my least favorite scent. To be honest, I'm not really sure what Bergamot is suppose to smell like, but I found it smelled similar to ginger. It's ok - definitely not over powering. I tend to like fruitier scents so it wouldn't be my first choice.
Scent aside, the product still works great. It keeps your lips very soft. The shape and thickness of the tube makes it easy to apply. See my reviews for the Citrus and Fragrance Free scents to see the other comments I made about the product.
I was lucky enough to try three flavours of the SoftLips Pure product - unscented, citrus and bergamot. I actually like this one, though at first the scent reminded me of citronella candles (bonus if it actually repels skitters from my face in the woods!). The scent is vaguely "Aveda-ish", which I liked. And, like the original Softlips products, it was smooth and moisturizing without goopiness, stickiness or a waxy feeling. Definitely worth trying!
Changed my mind. Feels good going on but find my lips are more dry after than they were before. So, the balm is a good temporary bandaid but the ingredients dry them out. I'm back to Rosebud salve and vaseline.
I wasn't sure what to expect from the bergamot scent but I found it very mild and innocuous. What I like about this product;
-not greasy or waxy; very nice texture that moisturizes well and has hours of staying power
-lipstick-style shape makes it easy to apply
-natural ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, etc.
I agree with one of the other reviewers that it would be nice of the product was available with SPF.
I was one of the lucky ones who won the Softlips package. Thank-you Chickies.
I really like the look and the lipstick-style, rather than the normal tube with a flat end that most lip balms have. It is nice to hold. Nice that it is all natural. It goes on smooth and is soft on the lips, unlike some lip balms. It appears to moisturize and stays on for an extended time.
When I read about the Bergamot fragrance, I was surprised and did not expect to like it (think Earl Grey tea). I loved the fragrance. Unlike the citrus, the Bergamot is long-lasting and quite delightful.
Unfortunately, it does not really moisturize, it creates a barrier, but my lips remained dry. The Bergamot seemed slightly better in this respect than the citrus and fragrance-free versions.
One small quibble: no spf. It is too bad that it does not moisturize as well as it could because this product has much in its favour.
I would buy this as I truly liked the fragrance, but I would not use it outside in the summer (spf), or when my lips are feeling dry. Still, I like the feel of the tube, the feel of the balm on my lips, the lipstick-style, and the fragrance, so I would purchase it.
Thanks again.
I really like the scent of this bergamot lip balm...it reminds me of earl grey tea! the balm itself goes on silky smooth and is not goopy or sticky. my lips have been extra dry for the last few months and while this product didn't "cure" the chapping, it certainly didn't hurt - literally! there was no stinging sensation (like a couple of other balms i've tried), probably because of the all natural ingredients. this is a product i would definitely recommend trying if you want smooth, soft lips!
As I said in one of my other reviews, this lip balm is very moisturizing, which I love. I love that it has a very mild fragrance too! The lip balm does not feel greasy, waxy, or sticky at all. It goes on smooth and moisturizes your lips as it should by feeling great! I love that these products are all-natural!
I also love the container these lip balms are in. It's thicker than the old softlips formula which I find much better, plus it is in a lipstick formula rather than a flat stick formula (if you know what I mean with other lip balms), so I think it's easier to apply.
The bergamot scent from the Softlips line is light, subtly sweet and pretty. If you are a fan of floral scents you may prefer this of the three PURE options. The balm goes on smooth, not sticky or waxy, and feels very lightweight. It moisturizes lips for about 3 to 4 hours. Personally, I prefer a richer formula but if you like a lightweight lip moisturizer it's a great one to carry in your purse. The all-natural food-grade ingredients don't comprimise the quality of the balm, so you can definitely feel good about this product.
I can't get over how great these lip balms work! It's hard to believe that it is 100% pure ingredients. I also love this scent! It is so fresh! It lasts and lasts and helps my lip liner glide onto my lips. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone!
