Sophie the giraffe is a great toy that promotes children's development in motor skills as much as cognitive skills. it allows them to chew , touch, hear etc and allows the child to soothe himself as well. only downfall is that it is a pricey toy and water can get into the hold making it a nest for mold easily.

    i hate Sophie the Giraffe.

I was gifted this horrendous giraffe at my baby shower when I was expecting my first. He hated the giraffe, he had more interest chewing on a cold $0.99 face cloth then he did this thing. I decided to try it out for myself and put it in my mouth and it was awkward, uncomfortable and felt really big in my mouth so I can imagine how large one of those legs feels in a little babies mouth. Into the box it got tossed.
Next baby came along and I pulled out overrated Sophie the Giraffe and tried with him.. same results. He wanted nothing to do with this giraffe and preferred other alternatives. Even the loud dog-toyish sound it makes is awful.

This giraffe is overrated and over priced. Don't fall into the "trendy" teething toys. Just stick to the cheap, tried over time and true items.

I would not recommend this giraffe to any mom

I enjoyed giving this to my little one to play with and chew. Its a cute little toy and safe. I would just remind parents to cover the hole when washing so that water doesn't go inside. Love Sophie!

Sophie the Giraffe is such a huge part of a child's development. as a baby they hold it crew it and love it. I find it i very durable. great to throw into the diaper bag. but please remember that they need washed and sterilized on a regular basis.
Lots of debris can collect where the toy allows for air intake. Clean it well

Sophie Sophie Sophie! My son doesn't use this anymore but when he did he absolutely loved it, couldn't leave the house without it. It was so good for teething, he used it so much. It can be pricey but in all honesty, it's completely worth it.

I fell into the Sophie The Giraffe hype and ended up getting it for my daughter when she was teething even though I found it ridiculously priced. Shes made of a natural rubber and a non a toxic paint so it's safe for a your little one to chew on. Its easy to clean. I even sterilized it a right after taking it out of the box. Unfortunatelyut my daughter enjoyed chewing on everything except Sophie. She held it in her hands all but seconds before throwing it. I kept giving it back to her and she would throw it away. I tried on a few other occasions but she wanted no part of it. I'm going to put it up for my upcoming interview June baby and hope she enjoys it during her teething period. If not I wasted money on a cute looking, squeaky rubber toy.

I had to do an update on Sophie The Giraffe. Although my other daughter didn't like it and wanted nothing to do with it her little sister absolutely loves it. She holds it in her hands, waves it around and chews on it. The long neck makes it easy to grip. Since she seems to like it a lot more than my other daughter I would say its a really great teething toy.

This toy is one of the only things the kids ask for and want to play with when their little it seems. It was lost more than once and I never heard the word Sophie come more out of a child's mouth when he lost his and required a new one. At one point in time there was an awesome sale on these giraffes at toysRus and multiple were bought due to several baby showers happening around us within several months. Price? I don't think it's worth it.. Quiet though from a screaming child? WORTH IT!

Baby loves to chew on this toy, it helps to massage the gums and distract from the teething pain. It cleans easily with mild soap and water. We still have our first one but would probably buy another one if this one doesn't survive the next bout of teeth growing in.
