Waste of money

I bought this product, used it for a few weeks and my acne has been getting worse. I later on found out from a dermatologist that the face scrubs can clog your pores and make the acne worse.

WAY TOO HARSH

This was my first ever scrub, and after so much research i have discovered that harsh scrubs like this are not for the face! they create microtears in your skin which cause inflammation & hyperpigmentation. DO NOT DO IT!

Do not buy it!!

I bought this product from Walmart about 6 months ago thinking “YES! Finally something that can help remove my blemishes at an affordable price of $5!” The back of the bottle states to use this product twice daily for best results. Although I did hear a lot of people say this product was AMAZING and it really helped clear out their skin, I decided to use it twice a week instead because I wasn’t sure if the product would work for me.

The product worked really well for me for the first 1-2 weeks. It removed all of my dead skin and left my face feeling smooth! It has a nice apricot scent too! I was quiet impressed by the product! However, with repeated use I found that I was actually breaking out more than I did previously. I didn’t immediately think it could have been this apricot scrub since it claimed to contain oil-free salicylic acid acne medication, which should help treat my acne, not give me more. Since it was the only new product I had included into my skincare, I decided to stop using it for a few weeks and see the results. I found that after a few weeks of not using this product, I stopped breaking out. Just to be sure, I included the product back into my skincare routine for a week, and found that I was breaking out again!

After doing a bit of research on the ingredients, I found out that this product contains Juglans Regia (also known as walnut shell powder), which actually causes microscopic tears in the epidermis (top layer of the skin). Because the top barrier of your skin is damaged, it is very easy for bacteria to enter through the tears and affect the deeper layers of your skin. Also, because the bacteria is now entering your skin, it will stimulate an inflammatory response by your body, causing white blood cells to accumulate at the site to fight the bacteria. This will consequently result in the formation of pus, which we see as pimples and acne, and it will clog your pores.

All in all, I HIGHLY recommend people to NOT buy this product as it will damage your skin!! Although it is inexpensive and tempting to buy because of all of its claims, I found this product to NOT do what it claimed it would. Instead, it did the opposite. Please don’t cheap out on your skin and get something that actually helps!

Not for me

This product makes my skin super red, and stays that way for hours! I think it actually made micro scratches on my skin. I used to love it as a teen, but it is way too intense for my adult skin. Nope. Nope. Nope. Will not purchase ever again.

I tried this cleanser because I am a firm advocate for the St.Ives Apricot scrub and this product left me wanting. It was watery and I felt as if I had to rinse and repeat multiple times to feel as if I had removed all sediments and make up. I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of the beads are.

I found this scrub really hurt my sensitive skin. It smelled good but the scrubbing particles were like scrubbing your face with sand! I would say, if you have sensitive skin, then this is not the one for you.

I tried using this when I was looking for an acne scrub and it was not a fun experience. It left my skin red and tender and I actually ended up breaking out more. I ended up using this as a scrub for my feet and hands after being in the garden which it was more effective for. I'm hesitant to try this again.

I really cannot recommend St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Facial Scrub any less. This scrub is very, very bad for your skin. Yes, it effectively exfoliates your skin, but the particles are not small and even and because they're so sharp and irregular they cut the hell out of your skin. You don't see the damage, but it's definitely there. There are much better facial scrubs on the market. I know this is cheap, and that's why it's so appealing, but honestly the other, more effective brands, can be found for the same price or only a dollar or so more.

I tried using this so many times, especially when I was in high school. For my sensitive skin this facial scrub was way to harsh The beads in it are very abrasive, leaving my skin feeling irritated and red, and very dry. I already have pretty dry skin and this just completely dried it out to the point of flakes. I was no impressed.
