In my quest for a great self tanner I would say St Tropez is my fav! It's a gorgeous colour, smell very minimal, and doesn't streak. I have a chronic illness which prevents me from going in the sun so a bit of colour makes me feel better and not so pasty. It's a great easy application using the mitt with the mousse, you don't have to worry if you goof up, it dries even! It's pricey but worth it!
This is really great for fair people, it does not leave you orange or yellow . and as long as you apply enough of it, it does not leave you streaky, it wears pretty well
Being very fair, it has been so difficult for me to find a self tanner that doesn't have a repulsive odor and also doesn't make me orange. St. Tropez has answered my prayers. It retails for around $40 at Shoppers Drug Mart, and it is a mouse texture. Super easy to glide onto the skin, and it does dry fairly quickly. It also leaves a very pleasant smell, so if you're in a hurry you can apply the product all over your body for a streak free natural looking tan. The tan also does last fairly long - I applied it once, and it lasted for roughly 2 weeks. The mitt also makes application much easier, and helps to avoid those "orangey" hands. This is a must have for me!
This is a great self tanner. Isn't as funny as drugstore ones and I like the glove that it comes with to apply it. It kind of has a strange smell but I think most self tanners do.
The St Tropez sunless tanner gives your skin a wonderful tanned look! It is easy to use, and looks very natural. I didn't have to use much foundation, or concealor on my face because it concealed everything!
This tanner gives a natural looking tan and easy to apply without streaks. However, if you don't shake it VERY well before applying, you won't get any of the active product- I have woken up several mornings without a tan! It is also light and not sticky like many of the other tanners. A little goes a long way- worth the investment. Beware, in my experience, this product does seem to expire after a few months.
I somewhat recently tried the St. Tropez dark tanning mousse and it is honestly the best self-tanner I have ever tried! I was hesitant to purchase this product at first because of the price, which is about $50-$60 for a 200ml bottle where I live in Canada, especially since I didn't know how well it would work. One of the sales associates talked me into it as they had used it before and new a lot about it and I have never turned back since! This product is to be used as a one-time application that will greatly darken over time; it is best to use at night and shower off in the morning. If you want to be darker than do a second coat the next night although I doubt you’ll need it!
Here are some of the awesome points this tanner has against other brands I have tried:
• I was concerned about how much tanner I would actually get since it was a mousse but was pleasantly surprised by how far one bottle goes. I have been using regularly for about 4 months and I’m only on my second bottle as a 5’5’’, average weight woman.
• St. Tropez uses a unique greenish coloured base and guide that makes it easier to see where you’ve applied as well as where blending is needed. This green colour also counteracts the ingredient in tanners that can leave you looking orange, so you can be sure your tan will look natural and brown
• It works with your skins natural pigments to darken to a colour your skin naturally would so you don’t have to worry about the colour being too dark if you are naturally fair skinned (I am very pale naturally so I know from experience).
• It is very fast drying. When applying tanner its best to start from the feet up to avoid creasing so that’s my go to method; by the time I am normally finished applying completely, my bottom half is dry and I can start getting dressed. If you dry in front of a fan you can be dry in like 2 minutes!
• Although some of the guide coat does come off onto clothing and sheets, it doesn’t stain. I would still advise against using white are very light colours though lol.
• Like most tanners it’s advised you use a tanning glove to apply so it goes on evenly and they help smooth out streaks. One of the best things I’ve noticed is this tanner goes on very evenly even if you can’t buff every line; as long as the tanner touched the skin you’ll be fine! I find this fact one of the best since I have trouble, like most people, reaching my back entirely and being able to apply evenly there so this helps a ton!
• Showers off nicely the next morning, I lightly rub my skin with my hands to make sure I get it all off and that’s it. So far nothing ever to correct the morning after!
• Tan lasts about 7-10 days depending on how often you shower and exfoliate. Be sure to exfoliate regularly as you would other tanner so it fades evenly; I normally reapply every 7-10 days and no issues yet with blending!
• I also suggest putting lotion on toes, knees, elbows, hands, and the creases of your wrists and elbows. This is because these areas are normally drier than the rest of your body and take the tan in differently which can make those areas look blotchy so this will make sure those areas look blended.
• If you’re concerned about putting it on your face and it being too dark: I haven’t had any issues with it but if you can leave it on for a shorter amount of time than the rest of your body and adjust with makeup.
I have now been consistently using this tanner for about 4 months now and I’m glad I made the switch! It is very much worth every penny spent and unless another company can give me this result for a better price I won’t be changing anytime soon.
***PS*** I just want to note I don't have a picture of my own personal before and after because my lighting in my house doesn't do any justice to the tanner but I found one online from someone else using this product that had the exact same result as me. I don't take any credit for that picture but i honestly couldn't have given you a better example if I had taken it myself so kudos to the original poster!
Great product. Being a self proclaimed self tanning addict this was actually the first self tanner I've ever used and that was 6 years ago and I'm still in love with this product. The smell isn't the most amazing but the results are.
I LOVE this self tanner! I had heard enough lectures about how terrible tanning in a bed was for myself & decided to make the switch. Spray tans were too expensive & didn't last long enough for someone who wanted an every day, year round tan, so I was on the hunt for the perfect self tanner. I tried a million different kinds... They all either had a terrible smell, were sticky, went on streaky, were too orange, too sparkly or just not enough colour. I decided to try out St. Tropez...
I live in a small town so good luck coming across this brand here, so when I traveled to the U.S. & went into an Ulta I asked a women working there what the best St.Tropez self tanner was as there was so many different kinds & this was my only chance to buy the right one. She told me their most popular was the Self Tan Bronzing Mousse. So I purchased that as well as the Applicator Mitt.
This stuff was amazing! The smell wasn't even close to the terrible smells I had smelled from previous self tanners. The applicator mitt was a huge plus, it helped go on so smooth & not sticky at all. It dried super quick & I had amazing colour after just one use! This stuff lasts the longest of any self tanners that I have used as well. Obviously you need to apply every couple of days as some is bound to wash off in the shower. But it's so easy & quick & you really don't need a lot of product. The price is great, deffinetly a bargain for the quality! I have spent more money on a drug store self tanner than I did on this high-end brand. Plus this bottle is going to last me forever! Definetly worth the money :) & I highly recommend the mitt as well! It makes the application much easier & as long as you wash the mitt off after each application it's going to last a while! Definitely my go-to tanner!!
