The Body shop Shea butter has a very pleasant fragrance. It also smooths very nicely on the skin. Even if you use a bit of the product you can feel the difference. It made my skin feel softer after using it after taking a shower, hence I would recommend for after shower or bath applications, as well as throughout the day when you feel your skin is getting uncomfortable. The box is moderately appealing but the brand Body shop itself speaks for its quality, and I would buy this product again.
I have always loved the products from this store but I have never tried the body butter. I am so SO glad that I got the chance. This is a wonderful product that I will continue to use for as long as they make it. The smell is wonderful. Soft and feminine, but not overpowering like a lot of "pretty smelling" lotions tend to be. It works great on my rough skin. I use it all of the time. I have reallly enjoyed using it a lot! I tell everyone who will listen to give it a try as well.
I've always been a fan of The Body Shop but I'd never tried their body butters before. I wasn't dissapointed - I love it! It has a very rich texture that's great for my dry skin, especially rough areas like knees and elbows. It left my skin feeling so silky and moisturized. I know others have mentioned they didn't like the smell and found it masculine, but i didn't find that at all. I really liked the scent; it was a little musky but pleasant. Also, a little goes a long way, so while it may seem pricey at first glance, it will last for a very long time.
I'd definitely recommend this to anyone and will be buying it again!
I received this as a part of the product review club and loved it. I have used other body shop products before, but never this one.
This cream has a very rich texture which is perfect for dry spots such as elbows, knees and hands during the cold and dry winter months. It is not too greasy either which is always a plus. The fragrance is gentle so it won't clash with any other perfumes or products. I noticed a difference in my chapped hands after about 5 days of using this at night.
Overall I would recommend this product. It's a great gift for a friend , or for yourself!
I received Body Shop's Shea Body Butter through the product review club. I had never used it before but a few of my friends had and were very jealous when it showed up on my doorstep. I've used it a couple times and was quite impressed. The scent was nice and stayed on my skin throughout the day. It absorbed well, no goopy residue left behind on my skin. I would definately recommend it to people with extremely dry skin as it really did do wonders to reduce the nasty ichy feeling my skin gets at this time of year.
I haven't been to the body shop for a few years but this may sway me back out of the drug store and into the speciality shop once again. Thanks product review club!
I have not stepped foot into a Body Shop in the last 5 years, despite working across from one - it just didn't really appeal to me from the outside, but I think now I have to change my mind.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was chosen to be a reviewer (Thanks!) for the Product Review Club especially since it's the time of year when my skin is in its worst shape.
First off, the smell was pleasant - kind of hard to describe but definitely not overpowering and it dissipated after it was absorbed into the skin which I like alot. I also found that it was not greasy at all, which I assumed it would be considering its called a body 'butter'. Fast absorbing, it wins points for convenience in application and its pretty big so its not too convenient for travel - although I think it might come in a smaller size?
Personally I have extremely dry skin that easily gets exacerbated by the weather, so although I think this would be great for normal skin, it wasn't quite as moisturizing as I had hoped for. It helped to keep my skin moisturized in areas that weren't overly dry and my skin was not sticky after application. I might use this more in the summer, but for Canadian winters, I'm still going to need something a little more moisturizing.
Thanks to winter, my skin has become dry and flakey, but not just on my legs and hands, but also my abdomen. When I heard that the review club was looking for reviewers for The Body Shop Shea Butter I got pretty excited. Well here's what I have concluded:
What I liked: The smell is warm and yummy, and it moisturizes fairly well, especially if you apply right after shaving your legs. It temporarily gives a smooth, soft feeling to the skin, but this brings me to what I didn't like.
What I didn't like: This shea butter isn't a very good long-term effects product. I'm sure if I applied it several times a day for a few weeks my skin would improve, but honestly, I barely have time to apply it once or twice a few times a week.
Other than that, I did enjoy this product. Sure, this body butter really did feel like butter or frozen cream, but it worked fairly well, and that's all that matter right? I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick fix for dry skin.
I have to tell you I am a HUGE FAN of Shea Butter and this is the Body Cream.
I do have to say, that I use a lot of organic and natural shea butters but they tend to be hard and difficult to melt and absorb into your skin (kind of like actual butter or crystallized honey).
This shea butter version from The Body Shop is really easy to spread in, emollient and moisturizing without a doubt.
I did find the fragrance to be quite strong. But then again, I have a really sensitive nose and you may not feel the same about it as I did.
It smells a bit like perfume. Not a foody kind of smell but almost like a men's cologne.
I do love that in the ingredient list, Shea Butter and Cocoa along with Glycerin is one of the first 5 ingredients, which means the product is mostly made up of those items.
Ingredient List:
Water (Solvent/Diluent), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) (Emollient), Cocoa (Theobroma Cacao) Butter (Emollient), Cyclomethicone (Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Babassu (Orbignya Oleifera) Oil (Emollient), Beeswax (Emulsifier/Emollient), Lanolin Alcohol (Stabiliser/Emollient), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Fragrance (Fragrance), Methylparaben (Preservative), Propylparaben (Preservative), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Caramel (Colour), F D & C Yellow No 5 (Colour).
I recommend it for those of you who aren't really freaked out about chemicals, want something easy and really moisturizing to absorb and rub in, and don't mind strong fragrances.
The price is really good for what you get, and a little goes a long way.
First off - who doesn't love the body shop!
This is a great product that I would definitely recommend. Good quality and effectiveness for the price!
