I was super reluctant to try this product, as the idea of it weirded me out. Finally, after getting tired of buying tampons and pads which is very costly, I decided to give this a try. I have been using it faithfully ever since. I LOOOOOOVE this product and would recommend it to every woman who is sick of being worried of leakage while they have their period. Leakage no more!!!
I purchased my Diva Cup a few months after my daughter was born. I was sick of using tampons and liners, and then pads at night. It was a little tricky the first time or two using it, but now I will never go back. I just put it in and go. i don't have to worry about changing it for 12 hours, nor do i have to worry about my sleeping position or leakage. I have already recommended it to friends and family who have made the switch.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!
It's easy to use, affordable, and works! Takes a bit of practice at first, but totally worth the switch!
I've owned the DivaCup in size 1 for about 3 years now.
I will never go back to conventional tampons and pads. I purchased mine off iherb.com when they had some coupon code and the price was a reasonable $25. At the time I was wary of the price because if it didn't work for me then I wouldn't save any money by not having to buy tampons etc. I found it very easy to switch to using the cup and preferred it so much I have leftover tampons and pads. I made up for the cost of this in about 3-4 months since I used both tampons and panty liners during my period.
I did use the DivaCup with panty liners in the beginning because I was worried about leakage. To my amazement there was absolutely no leakage. The bonus to the cup is that you can insert it even when you aren't on your period; since I'm on birth control pills my cycle is extremely regular so the day I'm suppose to get my period I just pop it in and don't have to worry if my period does come in the middle of the day. I've bicycled, ran, etc. and haven't had any leakage. However, I've never swam with the cup in.
I don't have a very heavy flow so I've never had to empty it in a public washroom. I imagine if I ever have to it won't be much of a problem.
To take care of it I wash it with soap and water at the end of the day, be sure to scrub at the lettering lining the inside of the cup and the little holes along the rim. If you want a real deep clean I know some people boil it, but I don't feel the need. I haven't tried the Diva wash since I found just regular soap worked fine.
This product was a life saver for me, I use to get rashes from pads and panty liners, since my flow is light during the earlier days I found even the lightest tampons were too much. For some reason those tampons will still leak down the side so I'd have to wear a panty liner. I dreaded my period like most women but now with the DivaCup it really is no big deal, I barely notice it at all. I've gotten rid of all my "period panties" because there was no need for them! The DivaCup never leaks and since I can pop it in the day of my period means I can contain it before I see it. Truly is amazing.
I was first introduced to the menstrual cup by another name. I was on a message board where women were griping about their monthly visitor. Someone suggested using the cup as an alternative to pads and/or tampons. I had very heavy periods and the cost of tampons and pads was reaching outrageous amounts. I paid $30 about 7 years ago for mine and have not looked back. I see that its come down in price and the quality of the product (medical silicone as opposed to rubber) has improved vastly.
My daughter has just started getting her period and is presently using pads but when she shows an interest in finding another product, I will definitely suggest The Diva Cup to her.
About three years ago my sister left her cell phone on a bus in Toronto, I received a call notifying us it was at Union Station so I hopped on a bus to retrieve it. Before I could catch my bus home I had to use the washroom, as I entered the stall there written on the wall in black marker was a message about The Diva Cup!
As soon as I got home I googled it and it wasn't long before I was purchasing it!
Since I was a teenager I have dreaded getting my period every month...I can't wear tampons because they hurt to take out and pads are so uncomfortable.
The Diva Cup is perfect! It takes some getting used to and can be a little messy at times but when you are wearing it you forget you're having your period at all and you can walk down the street with confidence!
The pros outweigh the cons by far!
In my years of using it I have developed a system for changing it in a public washroom, simply bring a travel pack of feminine wipes along with you in your purse. I usually just empty it ,wipe it down, and reinsert it in seconds and I'm good to go for 12 more hours!
I don't feel it when I'm wearing it, I can wear it over night and there's nothing to leave in your friend's bathroom garbage!
The Diva Cup has made my life so much easier! I love this thing!
I love the Diva Cup! It's so practical, I almost forget I'm having my period. When I'm out and about though I often wear a tampon so I don't have to deal with emptying the Cup in the public bathroom. That can be... awkward.
The first month using this is a bit tricky as inserting it and taking it out can be a bit difficult. The second month was great I just needed to get used to it. No leaks. You don't have to worry about it all day long. You can use the toilet without worrying about a string or a pad. And it's good for the environment. I love it. I'm trying to get all my friends to switch.
It took me several days of use to figure out the right placement for the DivaCup. It's a bit tricky to get in place sometimes... sort of have to do a little jig afterwards to get it just right! After the first couple tricky uses, I love this product! I use the DivaCup with a liner and have no problems at all. A quick rinse off when I need to empty it, pop it back in and I am good to go! Saves a LOAD of money on pads or tampons that's for sure!
I am a woman with heavy and painful periods. I am also very active and like many not a fan of pads or tampons. Pads give you that horrible diaper feel, and tampons leave you well dry, uncomfortable, and I end up worrying if I will leak through and have a very embarrassing moment. Diva Cup has solved all of these problems for me. FYI: I've never had children and have cup 1.
What I love about the Diva Cup:
* It can handle even the heaviest periods
* I don't have to worry about leaking - okay, I'll admit at first I did because the Diva Cup, I found, has a bit of a learning curve. At first I couldn't seem to get it in right and would have some leaking through, but honestly when you figure it out it's absolutely flawless!
* It's super comfortable to the point I forget it's in - okay, not at first when you first insert it, you definitely notice it, but within 20 minutes you forget if it's in right.
* You don't have to worry how long it's in - I find I can go all day with it in if I choose which is really nice and convenient.
* It saves me money - I though it was a little pricey at first ($40 CAD), but when you calculate all the money you save on pads and tampons, it's well worth it and saves you a lot!
* It's eco-friendly - I'll admit I'm not a big eco-friendly kind of person, but for many others that is a major perk of the product thus I'll acknowledge it.
* It's very easy to clean - just wash and reload ;)
What I don't like about Diva Cup:
* Washing it in a public place - serious I think people look at me like I'm crazy when I go to wash it in the bathroom... to minimize it though I dump the blood, try to clean what blood I can off with toilet paper then go out and wash it when it's not a bloody mess.
