95% OF CHICKS DIG IT
The best thing I may have ever bought. It took me about 5 months of trial and error to fully figure it out, but it was worth it. (TMI review?: The instructions describe 2 different methods of how to position it and the way that works for me is neither of these so that took a while to figure this out. ) They say a woman will spend $5000 in her lifetime on fem-hygeine products, so this is amazingly cost-effective (Imagine a world where you never have to run to the store every month). I could only find it at Vita Health for $40, so the description of this at the top at $20 is a mega-bargain-steal-pounce-and-buy-it. How to review this product without TMI?!?... I'll say it b/c I read a lot of reviews before I bought it too... so as a person who knows what both super-heavy and light are like: with a heavy flow I have had to empty it every 1-3 hours just like tampon use, and light-wise it lasts the full 12 hours. I would recommend it for both types of people. It can change lives.
When I first heard about this product, I have to admit, I was a little disgusted. I heard from a couple friends that they swore by it, so I had to try it! When I first bought it, I thought it was super pricey. Took it home and awaited for "Aunt Flow" to arrive so I could try out my new product. Putting the cup in the first couple times was a bit awkward, and I knew right away it wasn't in right. But once I got the hang of it, I couldn't feel it, even lessened my regular cramps I get every month at least half. After a year and a half of using this product I am ABSOLUTELY amazed by it every time. I do suggest it to all my friends, but they find it kinda gross. I hope one day they try it, cause you will never want to go back to tampons and pads again!
The diva cup may seem really expensive at first, but think of how much money is saved without buying pads or tampons. As someone who does a lot of camping and has a busy lifestyle, this is a lifesaver, as it literally holds everything until you have time to take it out. Some girls may find it kinda gross at first, but it is much healthier as there is no risk of TSS as it is made of medical grade silicone. Its also easily cleaned, and can be disinfected by boiling water. I also recommend it for girls who do a lot of swimming or life-guard work, I know friends in which this has been a life-saver.
This is the best thing ever! I know a lot of people hate having to touch and deal with the blood, but really people, it's normally not that much and it's soo much better for you and the environment. No more discomfort from being dry from tampons. No more trying to "hide" a new tampon when you leave the table or whatever. 1 a year = crazy cheap! Plus get it from Well.ca and they normally give you the cleaner for free.
I am however so happy that I got it from a store and the clerk flocked to me when she see me pick it up. Her description of how to put it in was so much easier and I didn't have to deal with leaks and all that as she had. So best to squish from all sides, making a "flower".
I have purchased this product but I am yet to use it I am a little scared and hesitant about it as I'm not sure if I will like it or not and if I can deal with the mass of changing it it sounds like a great concept and looks pretty easy to use and I will try it one day when I have the guts to try it and hopefully not have any leakage.
You save so much money by not buying pads and tampons every month.
It is so comfortable and works for hours, I try to tell everyone to use it!
Clean and great.
The most amazing gift I ever got!!! Effective, ecological, price ratio... amazing!!! The diva cup has changed the way I see my period. I even feel like I get less cramps, and I don't have to be running to the bathroom every three hours to change. Plus, no gross diaper feeling. :)
I bought the diva cup at the recommendation of a friend while I was living overseas in a third world country (and feminine products were extremely costly). It was one of the best purchases I have ever made
Pro
At $40, this is an excellent price because the product lasts for 10years before it requires replacing (you need to purchase the 2nd model once you have had a child). The diva cup is extremely comfortable and i never notice it when in use. The material is also organic. What an awesome way to save money and help the environment.
Cons
May take some time to get the hang of insertion. Needs to be boiled after use to sanitize it again. Boyfriend took some time to get used to the idea; wasnt sure what to think of it for awhile.
I made this switch to this type of menstrual product back in 2011 and I've never regretted. Not only do I not have to worry about having tampons and pads around or buying them monthly, but I get better protection and reliability. I've shared my new found appreciation with many friends and those who've made the switch are just as pleased as I am.
I wish I had found this product years ago. No more cramps. No mess while wearing. Clean up is one time/day during my daily shower !
