This book was way too overrated. I didn't like the storyline as it was very unrealistic and almost fantasizing having a fate such as hazel grace's or augustus's. Sappy teenage love stories aren't really my type and all of john green's books are almost the same as this.
I purchased this book for my Kobo for what I thought would be a great afternoon read. I was very disappointed. I found the book geared to a much younger audience and found the only good thing about the book was the surprised ending.
A big "meh" for this book. I had read this book soon after it was released onto the market (not trying to be hipster or anything), and I thought it was okay. The story was not too compelling, it didn't have much staying power but it was nice. I felt that the only reason the book became such a popular hit and got turned into a movie (which I refuse to watch because of the ridiculous casting of Hazel Grace), was because John Green is a famous YouTuber, and producer etc. John Green is absolutely brilliant, but his other books are better. TFIOS did not engross me in any way.
I understand there's a large fandom for both this novel and John Green. Just hear me out I think anyone who liked this novel would also love Lurlene McDaniel who writes about several different tragedies. I'm a big suck for tragedies, just this one seems generic, predictable, and somewhat force. I know a novel is meant to be enjoyed but I ended up deconstructing it with some friends... not a pretty site.
I give it 1.5
