100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
I both laughed and cried sometimes simultaneous during this film. It is also both heart and gut wrenching.
This movie is such an outstanding portrayal of what it was like for black men of this era who were mostly all charged for crimes they did not commit due to the color of their skin. Also, it shows what jail life was like for all men who were charged with the most heinous crimes during that time. They were all put together in a maximum security area. Also, hanging wasn't used anymore, it had changed now to the electric chair.
Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) walked the mile with a variety of cons. He had never encountered someone like John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a massive black man convicted of brutally killing a pair of young sisters. Coffey had the size and strength to kill anyone, but not the demeanor. Beyond his simple, naive nature and a deathly fear of the dark, Coffey seemed to possess a prodigious, supernatural gift. Paul began to question whether Coffey was truly guilty of murdering the two girls.
Such a sad movie. It's the story of a man who is wrongly accused of murdering two young girls.
This man sits on death row and he has a mysterious gift that affects the lives of the guards.
A touching movie with great actors. Likely to make you cry a little haha, still worth the watch.

What a moving story brought to light by the talents of Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan. It was touching to see how Paul wanted to delve deeper to find out if John truly had it in him to kill these innocent young sisters. All you need is for one person to believe in you but will it be enough for John?
