Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

Featuring one of the most unusual love triangles in literature, THE HOST is a riveting and unforgettable novel about the persistence of love and the essence of what it means to be human. (2008)

This book was so good! I liked it much better than the twilight series. It is hard to get into, but the beginning being that way is needed to get the full gist of it. I saw the movie afterwards and was disappointed-- too hard of a concept to portray on film

I enjoyed the Twilight novels and was excited to read this book. I was hooked at the beginning and wanted to read more and by the middle of the book, I could not put it down. Unfortunately after that the chapters of this book dragged on so much that I had lost interest. I had put the book down to read others novels but I was determined to finish this one. Honestly, I just read the last chapter and the book is put away for good. This was a fail for me.

I was really excited to read this book because I love the Twilight series. It's definitely very different from the vampier/werewolf love, so you have to get your head wrapped around a totally different, and sci-fi frame of mind.

I was skeptical about this book at first because the summary did not seem very appealing to me (aliens taking over). I read it anyways because my friend said it was amazing and because Twilight was so successful. I absolutely LOVE this book. I just couldn't put it down until I have finished it and when I did finish it I was so sad it ended. They are making a movie so I will definitely watch it. I recommend everyone to read it if you're a fan of Twilight!

    One of my favorite books.
The beginning is a little slow, but when I got about halfway through I was very interested.
