The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Reviews
#1 in Books

Description

Publisher's Description:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

I absolutely loved this series. As an avid reader, it is amazing when a book grabs you from the very beginning and keeps you hooked the entire time. Loved the plot, and the characters.

I read the whole series before seeing the movies and I'm glad that I did. The story is unique, the characters are interesting and the action is intense. I enjoyed these so much, I read the entire series in 4 days. Definitely recommend it.

I have been a huge reader since I was about 7 or 8. I read anything and everything. I also read a lot of young adult fiction. I get a lot of flack for it, but honestly, I feel like YA is where all the innovative and creative stories are coming from nowadays. I also love an entertaining, easy read sometimes. I devoured the Hunger Games series so quickly. I didn't put down any of the trilogy until they were finished. I also got my boyfriend to read them. And he A) isn't a huge reader, although he does read here and there and B) hates anything with a romantic storyline and YA. He ACTUALLY enjoyed them. Although he hated Peeta, haha. They were the original dystopian YA in my mind, and then EVERY YA author jumped on the bandwagon, which is annoying. I loved the novels, they were passionate, fun, tense reads, with well written characters and excellent world building. I wish the movies weren't absolutely horrible. I feel like the movies have turned the series into Twilight for people who haven't read the novels.

I have to admit, I'm a sucker for romantic novels and don't often read books, yet alone series like the Hunger Games. However, I love this trilogy so much! I was so into the book and couldn't put it down for days. I think my favourite book has to be the second one as I hadn't watched the movie beforehand (like I did with the first one) and so I was so captivated wondering what would happen next :)

A great series. Made for young adults, but still resonated in all of the generations of my family who read it. Really makes you think about the "what ifs" of the future and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'm glad that this series was chosen to be translated to the big screen.

I really found this book disturbing! I think people read it and forget that we are talking about a bunch of children.some of them only 12 who are putting their lives in danger for the sake of food and family. Isn't it funny how we will read about it in a book for amusement but when a commercial for the 3rd world country comes on tv we change the channel. For the price you spent on the book you could have fed a child for a month. (for the record my copy was given to me)

I literally could not put this series down for the weekend it took me to read them -SO good (considering they were bought for my tween!). Personally I think if a younger is reading them a adult should as well, so some discussion can take place, but that is just my opinion. Unbelievably good for "teen lit" :)

Loved every page of all 3 books. I read the series in a weekend i could not put them down. They were so great and way different then the movies. I am going to read them again as feel like I may have missed something because they had so much action in them.
