Description

Publisher's Description:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Love this book, and all three of them are just FAB!
I don't even really want to see the movies, because I don't want them to wreck the descriptions of everything which were explained in the novels.

When I was offered this book the first thing I though was: war, poor, survival = not for me. But as soon as I started reading this book I couldn't let it go. It tells the story of how a tiny tone rolling can produce an avalanche.

A great read for any age. I couldn't put the book down, and straightaway needed to discover what happened to Katniss in the next two books!

SUPER hyped up but a very enjoyable easy read! The other two books in the series are not nearly as riveting, but still an enjoyable teenage dystopian novel.

When the Hunger Games movie came out I finally decided it was time to borrow this book from my sister and read it. Everyone was talking about it and I decided it was about time to get in on the conversation.

First off, the story line and characters hooked me from the start. I was obesessed with what was going on with them and could not put this book down. This is also one of those odd times when both the book and the movie are extremely well done. Loved this series!

I could not put this book down and I did not know it was part of a trilogy at first. I got mad when I was done with the first one and did not have the second one. I am now on the second book and am loving it. It is well written and keeps you pulled into the story. I recommend it for every age group. It is a great read.
