The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Reviews
#1 in Books

Description

Publisher's Description:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

This book is clearly an original one. Great characters with an even better and suspenseful plot. I usually don't even buy books but I made an exception when I read the first one.

I really enjoyed all three novels. As soon as I started reading the first couple of pages, I was hooked. Good novels to read for teenagers and adults as well. I read all three books in two weeks. I also liked the movies. l highly recommend.

These are fun books, that have been made into fun movies. No they aren't literary master pieces that will be classics forever, but they are still quite good.

These are great books. Pretty easy to read and definitely page turners. I read all three within a few weeks and I would read them again! No spoilers but good books for both teens and adults however there is mature content as a FYI.

These are great books - for all ages. I originally heard about the books and thought 'no way would I ever read that'. Eventually a friend of mine brought it over and I picked it up and was hooked. Although the idea of the story sounds silly and far-fetched, they're really well written and the story is actually amazing. Movies are great too!

I was lucky enough to find the trilogy available for $20. I had only seen the first movie before reading the books. Even then, I had not heard much about the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I ended up reading the entire series in just a couple months. Very enjoyable and easy to read. My favourite book of the 3 is the 2nd.

I was surprised by how much I did enjoy this trilogy. The characters were strong and the story line entertaining. I liked the representation of the different districts and how the people stood up for themselves and tried to better their lives. Kat of course was fighting for herself, her family and all that society stood for. It is a good way to see a strong female lead and want her to succeed.

This is a fun trilogy for light reading. I enjoyed the story line and the character development over the series and it's easy to polish off on a rainy weekend. I have not seen all the movies yet but the books pull you in and I had a hard time putting them down once I started.
