The Kings Speech is a fantastic film. Acting is so well done, movie kinda sucks you in. Really, really good. I would definitely recommend to watch the movie.
Beautiful and insightful. I could watch it over and over. Can't help but smile when I think of it. A great confidence booster!
I recently watched this movie with the mister. While the premise of the movie didn't entice me when I had first heard of it, the Oscar buzz put it squarely on my radar. It doesn't hurt that it stars two of my all-time favourites Colin Firth and Helena Bonham-Carter, nor that it naturally feeds into my wee obsession with all things Royal Family.
Looking at it at face value, this is the story of a man who overcomes stuttering. There are other subplots to be sure, but it's a pretty bland idea. That's why it was all the more shocking how deeply I enjoyed this movie.
To put it simply, the acting is sublime. I cried at the end--cried! (I'm kind of a weepy movie watcher though, so take that as a qualifier) My husband, an otherwise Bruce Willis or Will Smith fan, sat through it all the way and didn't complain once. This too is quite shocking.
In retrospect, I kind of love that the story is plain potatoes when it's served with the rich Chateaubriand of acting here. Colin Firth, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Geoffrey Rush prove the worthiness of their megawatt reputations and mile-long list of awards.
I highly recommend this movie!
