The Love Market is a 'what if' story. What if you were married to a great guy but there was no passion and you still carried a torch for your first love?
Celine Lewis is in London with her husband celebrating their 10th anniversary when she sees her ex Patrick, a man she met in The Love Market while traveling over a decade ago getting into a cab. Though they had only been together a short time because he was married, and she was on vacation, they fell in love and she never really got over him.
She chases after him, and though she doesn't manage to reach him, her marriage to her husband subsequently ends. Shortly after, Patrick contacts her and wants to meet up.
Does she get back together with the love of her life or reunite with her husband, who she shares a life and daughter with?
I was voting really heavily in one direction but it's not the one the author chose. I obviously won't say who, but I thought one choice was more obvious than the other. For that reason I found the ending a bit sad. Still, it was quite a satisfying read with compelling characters and a concept that had me hooked from the first few pages. I like Mason's writing style. It's similar to Emily Giffin. It's really easy to get caught up in the story and realize it's already 2am and you haven't put the book down.
