The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion Reviews
#79 in Books

Description

A first-date dud, socially awkward and overly fond of quick-dry clothes, genetics professor Don Tillman has given up on love, until a chance encounter gives him an idea.

He will design a questionnaire-a sixteen-page, scientifically researched questionnaire-to uncover the perfect partner. She will most definitely not be a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker or a late-arriver. Rosie is all these things. She is also fiery and intelligent, strangely beguiling, and looking for her biological father a search that a DNA expert might just be able to help her with.

The Rosie Project is a romantic comedy like no other. It is arrestingly endearing and entirely unconventional, and it will make you want to drink cocktails.

This was a sweet, romantic story in which the main character is highly analytical and socially oblivious. It almost felt as though he was incapable of loving someone because of his social qualities. Regardless, I definitely recommend this book.

A friend recommend I read this, she knows I love Sheldon Cooper off the Big Bang Theory and she said I would love this book as the characters are similar. It was the first booked I decided to read on my ereader and I wait to read the second one! Loved it, so different from the normal standard romance stories out there.

I loved this book! It was such a nice change from other stories out there. The main character was hilarious in his misunderstandings and I loved seeing how the other characters were so complex and had such a story behind them, yet he took all of them at face value and didn't seem to see them that way. I already have my name on the list to read the sequel from the library.

I honestly I don’t think I was prepared for just HOW QUIRKY it was going to be. Don Tillman reminded me so much of Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. Not the easiest person in the world to date!

After the first few chapters I was somewhere between scratching my head wondering why I was reading about this odd little man and smiling like a fool because it was hilarious.

Everyone who heard I was reading The Rosie Project had the same reaction: “YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE DON TILLMAN” and boy were they right! As the story continued I found myself in a mix between face palming at his behavior and his perfect ability to kill a moment and simply cheering him on, just hoping he’d figure it all out.

I would definitely recommend this book if you’re in the market for some good laughs, a few cringe-worthy moments and an overall good time. The ending was a bit abrupt for my liking but I hear rumors there is going to be a follow-up book and I’ll be first in line to pick up my copy when/if the time comes!

This is an easy read that you don't want to put the book down until you finish reading it. Great humour and story. Definitely recommend.
