I picked up this book after seeing a review on ChickAdvisor. The story grabs your attention from the start and continues to keep you intrigued right until the last page. The story follows a young underprivileged girl named America who is selected to compete in The Selection. The Selection is a competition between 35 girls that have to prove why they are the perfect girl to marry the prince. There are several tasks assigned to them to see who can handle all that comes with being a princess while also trying to make the prince fall in love with them. The characters were compelling and I have to say I liked almost all of them. The story ends with some questions to be answered in book 2 The Elite.

This book had me hooked since day one, i have the whole series and the extras! I love all the romance and drama. Basically this book is the Bachelor except the bachelor is a prince and the girls are going for the crown as well as his heart, (some girls just want the crown though) and its also like the hunger games except instead of districts its castes the lowest caste being 8 i think which meant you either committed a crime or your family was on the kings bad side.... im not going to go on because i might spoil it, (having read the entire series twice.)

OMG!!!! This is like my new favorite book ever! It's so intense it grabs a hold of you from the beginning and never lets go. I'm still swinging. Kiera Cass is my new hero! I have no idea how you made me feel like I was in the book right beside the characters. In the beginning I could feel America's love for her family, and the heartbreak she felt when Aspen broke up with her. I loved how you slowly built us up to loving Prince Maxon. At first I thought he would be a jerk but I was pleasantly surprised. I think America is a great character. She is a role model, she is strong willed and she doesn't change herself for others.
I really can't wait for the next book. I want to know what happens. Does Marlee confess her secret to america? Does America pick the prince or Aspen? Do the rebels invade? Do people die? Will the queen and king accept America if she wins? More importantly will the people accept her as the winner? Will Maxon find out about Aspen?
God! The list could go on forever. I hope the other books will live up to this one. If you haven't read this book, you NEED to!
